Yesterday evening I got back to Pittsburgh. I've visited family and friends back home in Västerås. I had a wonderful time. Saw a bunch of people, ate some good food that I've missed (chicken with cashews from Spicy Hot, Abbas fiskbullar i hummersås, Swedish calzone-pizza etc.). I landed at Arlanda in the morning on Tuesday July 28 and, well, I just got back last night. The first week the weather was sort of crappy. The second and third weeks were just wonderful! I had a great time but it's also great to be back in the US with my lovely wife (who was unable to come with me on my trip).

I'm (still) in the process of applying to remove the conditions on my green card. Before I left I went to the local USCIS office and got a stamp in my passport, showing that my green card has been extended while they're handling my application. When I landed at Newark, Immigrations took me aside to verify the stamp and that I've applied to have the conditions removed. I didn't have any problems and it took maybe 15-20 minutes (on a Sunday morning). But I'm just posting this so people will remember that it may be a good idea to get that stamp in your passport of you're leaving the US before your green card conditions have been lifted.

Long time no see! How are you doing up in Alaska?

It's not too bad I guess. Biggest bummer is it's taking so long. I submitted my application to remove conditions in November 2014. I have to send in more evidence by the end of August. I have no idea how long it'll take before we're done with all the paper work.

They are slower than molasses sometimes! I sent in my paperwork for the citizenship and it seems like it will take a while!

Life up in AK have been really good! But all good things must come to an end and we are moving down to Texas in May next year! That I think will be a bigger adventure than the move up here lol

Hi guys!

I made a thread about preparation for my interview in the IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedure / Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas section. Since it's kind of Scandinavian/Norwegian specific (birth/marriage certificate), feel free to take a look. Maybe you have some tips.

I must say, this all went really quickly. I sent in my whole application package just two months ago on June 11, and I would have to say the financial/sponsor aspect of it was very complicated, since I work freelance (non-US employer as well, so no US tax returns) and had to prove that my income was from a lawful and continuing source with a ton of Norwegian business documents, plus the fact that my US citizen spouse does not work. Do you think the lack of requests for anything regarding income means the documentation for sponsoring was "approved" or might a RFE pop up later/at the interview?

The only other thing I received so far (two weeks ago) was a request for the I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, which I did not send in with the rest. Now I just have to find the cheapest civil surgeon in Southern California. If anyone happens to know any... Do share! I have my updated vaccination certificate with me, and according to the list, I will not need any more vaccinations.

Geez, you can probably submit for citizenship soon. Ours only took 4 months, but it was CSC. :clock: I'm glad ours came quickly because my husband was itching for a hunting rifle and they needed to see his greencard for the purchase.

Howdy and welcome to Texas in May next year. Sure ya'll will love it there. :D You sure are choosing the wrong time to change from cold Alaska to hot Texas though... :D It's usually around 38 to 40 degrees Celsius in May and will be so for the rest of the summer. And that temperature doesn't include the heat index, which pushes it higher than that. B-)

Where in Texas are you moving to? We're a couple of Swedes on here going to Austin, if we ever mange to leave NVC....

Yeah in an ideal world we would have moved this xmas break but driving down through Alaska and Canada in an rv with 4 kids and a dog in the middle of winter could be a little too much of an adventure lol

We decided to make a proper road trip out of this so end of may when our oldest is out of school is when its happening!

We are looking at moving to New Braunfels! We have family all over Texas so we have spent a lot of time down there and that seems like a nice size town not too far from anything! We go to San Antonio all the time so its perfect! But I am still keeping an eye on Corpus Christie...if I were to find my dream house there that is a possibility cause its just beautiful!

Hi guys!!

Quick question about TB vs. Scandinavians... I'm 28 years old and had my TB vaccine in 1999, and I have the scar on my arm to prove it, and records of it of course. I am doing my medical next week probably and was wondering if any Scandinavians (since all kids got the BCG shot at school in most of Europe) needed a booster vaccine or anything similar? I heard some people say it needs to be refilled every 10 years?
