Hello all and thanks for yer help in advance. Well, the time is approaching for my fiance to have her interview in Manila( March 19th) and i hate to jump the gun here but i am very confident that things will go fine with her interview :innocent: . I have been checking site like travelocity to get one way tix for her and just came up with a few questions. 1st question: Is if i do purchase tix from a site like that is a E-ticket okay? Or do you need a paper ticket? Question 2: Is it okay for me to even purchase the ticket? Or should she do it from the Phils? Those are really my only two questions at this point...if i can think of others i will surely ask...Thanks again!!!

You can travel on an e-ticket. I do not recommend getting a plane ticket until after your fiance gets her visa in her hand. One never knows for sure about when you will get the visa. If you get the ticket in advance and something goes wrong, you will be out money to change ticket plus the difference in the cost of the new ticket. Just wait, then buy. Good luck on your journey.

You may want to check the airline directly. I just purchased some tickets and Delta was cheaper than about 10 other places I checked. That is no always the case, but it has been the last couple of months.

When my fiance visit me here he just purchase ticket thru internet and if I got my visa hopefully soon He will just purchase ticket thru internet too (actually I am just starting my visa journey). I have used e-ticket two times and I didn't encounter any problem. The second time I used e-ticket I just ask my borther to purchase for me while I'm still in other country then he just send on my email I print it that's the one I used when I cameback on my country. For my own experience it's ok if you purchase her ticket then you just send on her email the copy of the e-ticket. She will just print it and that is the one she will show at the airport. Most people now used e-ticket even my friends used e-ticket they didn't encounter any problem too. There's a lot of site to choose where u can purchase ur fiancee's ticket with good discount. Hope u purchase her ticket when her visa is approved much safer if anything comes up.

Well goodluck on your fiancee interview. Happy for u soon u two will be together  God Bless

Trisha just arrive in the US. I purchased the e-ticket for her via the internet. There were no problems. Of course since your purchasing it via the internet she will need to pay the PTA Tax (ours was 1600+Php) and the departure fee. (750Php). Both are payable at the airport.

Love forever,

thank you all so much for your answers! Yes i also felt it is better to wait until she will have visa in hand. I have heard some stories where people purchase ahead only to have to change dates more than a few times! It seems to me the only site i found that will allow me to use manila as my departure is travelocity. I will also check with direct airlines like delta. Does anyone know of other sites that will allow a overseas departure location? Thanks again my friends!!!

i was shopping travel agencies in manila. went too many travel agencies at the mall but they are expensive. i found one outside mall and told my hubby about it. he sent me money $600=30,000.00php. exchange rate before was $1=50php and i got e-ticket anyway. i think e-ticket is the safest way. goodluck and happy trip to your fiancee.

I have been looking online for plane prices and have contacted travel agencies as well. I have always purchased plane tickets through travel agencies and their prices are more competitive than the ones you find on travelocity. PAL also gives discount to first-time immigrants. I leave some time next month and have gotten a ticket for $600++ (tax included) as opposed to the $700-800 (tax excluded) prices for the same flights that are available online. Try the travel agencies in the Manila (Ermita) area. Or PM me so I can give you the contact details of my travel agency in Ortigas. They're very helpful and accommodating.

I bought my fiancee an e-ticket from PAL over the internet. Be sure to check for requirements and restrictions if you buy the ticket, and are not going to be flying with her. She might be able to get a ticket cheaper in the Philippines, but make sure she buys through a reputable ticket agent, or directly from the airlines.

Make sure she receives her Visa first before buying any tickets and E-ticket is fine that is very common now.You purchase the ticket online and E-mail it to her (The confirmation letter from Expedia for example) she print it out and she's good to go.She just have to show it to the guard at the airport along with the passport with Visa on it of course. She can buy her ticket from travel agency too if she wants...

also have her check the Northwest office in Manila. They have tickets for 700-850 usd which includes taxes and fees.

Thanks Mister Bill and to all for the input. I most likely will be buying the ticket but not sure where i would check for restrictions. Do i check directly with the airline or through the website i buy ticket from? At the site the only thing it mentions is additional baggage fees and what is not permitted on flights. The flights i have been looking into would start as a PAL flight to Bejing or Hong Kong and then transfer to Continental Air to NJ. IF that helps with my earlier question? Thanks again!

Here is the information you need from PAL:

I want to book flight and purchase ticket for another person. Can I do it online?

Yes, you can book flight and buy a ticket for another person from our website. Our online booking facility does not require the credit card holder to be the passenger or a member of the travelling party.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

To avoid fraudulent transactions and to protect credit card owners, PAL reserves the right to require that the credit card used in purchasing the ticket(s) online be presented at the ticket collection point or upon check-in.

If the credit card owner is not part of the travelling party and is unable to present the credit card used, clear photocopies of front of the credit card and the valid PHOTO ID of the credit card owner may be required from the passenger(s) at the ticket collection point or at check-in. It shall be the responsibility of the credit card owner to ensure that the passenger(s) comply with this requirement; otherwise, the passenger(s) may be denied boarding.

The passenger(s) may be denied boarding for failure to comply with the foregoing requirement.

Without prejudice to criminal prosecution under Republic Act No. 8484, PAL may cancel a confirmed reservation or may remove from any flight any passenger if PAL has reason to believe that a ticket(s) has been purchased using a fraudulent credit card.

Check prices for different dates. As the flight fills up, the price goes up.

Hi! :star: Just to be sure, wait until the interview and visa approval to get the ticket. E-tickets are fine. What I did was send my husband money to buy the plane ticket. On the reciept I was put down as the buyer. Cause when he went through his interview (November 24, 2008), the consulate told him that I should be the one to get his ticket for him. I have no idea where that came from though. hehe So I sent the money through western union and my husband got his one-way ticket from NWA from Manila-Seattle for 600 US dollars. We looked around for a chaep place. It is called travelsavers and it is right across the street from Robinsons Place Manila. Look for Tess. She is soooooo nice.
