I hear some peoples saying that the cover letter should have date and signature.

My wife is the petitioner but I gathered all the documents and made the cover letter and I also signed it myself, there was no problem at all.

As a matter of fact, I have read multiple stories already from people who did certain explanations or asked questions on their cover letters but the USCIS never got back to them about that. I've even read that the cover letters are thrown away right away because they are no vital part of the package.

I never sent a cover letter because I just didn't think of it. I wouldn't worry about it. If you're gonna attach a cover letter then you don't have to date it or sign it, it's up to you since it's not a requirement! :)

NVC received - 02/05/2009

Request for expedite - 02/06/2009

Expedite approved - 02/20/2009

Case completed at NVC - 02/20/2009

Consulate received - 02/26/2009

Interview date - 03/13/2009

Visa received - 03/20/09

US entry - 04/13/2009
