Interview but no birth certificate, need info

Hi there, I just got my interview date but my husband who is the USC does not have a copy of his birth certificate; as proof of citizenship he used his passport as evidence. In the interview letter they request that you take the birth certificate and proof of citizenship, will the passport as evidence suffice?

Copy of the entire PP will work.

Normally it doesn't take much to get a certified BC copy in the US.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

Copy of the entire PP will work.

Normally it doesn't take much to get a certified BC copy in the US.

So you are saying that the passport is enough?

We are in opposite situation. My husband is US citizen, but he doesn't have passport, only birth certificate. We don't want to spend money on passport right now.

Adjustment of Status

Removing of Conditions

May 9, 2011 - October 4, 2011 (approval on September 28th)

Naturalization

July 19, 2014 - N400 packet sent out

July 21, 2014 - N400 packet delivered

July 23, 2014 - received email/text that I-797 is issued

July 26, 2014 - received I-797 in mail

August 11, 2014 - received the Biometrics notification

August 14, 2014 - biometrics walk-in (original date August 20)

August 18, 2014 - in line for interview scheduling

September 9, 2014 - yellow letter is received (letter is issued September 3)

November 3, 2014 - interview notice is issued (email/text alert)

November 10, 2014 - interview notice received with the interview date of December 11, 2014.

November 10, 2014 - request to reschedule mailed out

December 5, 2014 - interview notice is sent out (email/text alert)

diazy...was the same situation here...my husbands passport is lost lol...he dont know where he put that damn thing so he used his birth certificat...and they ask for the ID

There is a problem with his birth certificate. He was registered in his mom's surname and he has never used it as his father changed his surname to his when he was one year old. He didn't get a hard copy of it until he was 21. We didn't put the name as other name used on the applications as he has never ever used it; not for school, work, passport, job, social security or anything legal. He grew up with his step-mom and dad and never met his mom until he was 18. His mom and dad are no longer alive and he went to get a copy and when he gave them the name that he thought was his mom's maiden name they said it doesn't correspond with what is on file so they just gave him a BC with his surname as hers and no name for mom or dad. He has a certified copy of the name change but my concern is that they may ask why we didn't state the name on the BC. Again we didn't state it because he had never ever used it and they asked for other names used.

The USC has a passport that has a different name than what's on his BC. How did that happen, when you had to send in yourn BC as proof of being born in the US. They didin't question him on that? I think there is something that you maybe missing, did he get his name change legally?

His name was changed when he was one year old. At that time things were manually done and not computerized as it is now. We have a certified proof of the name change but it is an ammendment to the birth certificate which they accepted when they issued his passport. It just states that he is one and the same, signed and sealed. It has been accepted which is the reason every legal document is in that name. We will take the ammendment copy with us on the interview and I am going to get his school records from the Board of Education just in case.
