^ Count me in as a layman. I say I said Wauuuuht?

Thx for that read. I was just talking about time with a buddy o' mine last night and they were asking when did daylight savings time first began. :)

I had no idea Ben Franklin started it. No wonder he's on our $100 bill. :)

btw I wanted to tell you I really love the pix of the baby in your siggy. So precious! :luv:

It's about time.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

20 There may be an end of time. Three Spanish scientists posit that the observed acceleration of the expanding cosmos is an illusion caused by the slowing of time. According to their math, time may eventually stop, at which point everything will come to a standstill.

Gravity certainly has an effect on the speed of light, but not sure if it's gravity or the fact that this form of electromagnetic energy is experience the effects of capacity to charge and discharge a large mass, effectively slowing down the speed of this medium. Using charged electronic devices, the effect even with extremely low losses can slow down this transfer of energy to even a very small fraction of it's original speed, even to slower than a tenth. In dealing with the visible spectrum, this results in a color shift as each different frequency in the visible spectrum has a unique color. These guys are dealing with color more than anything else.

Same results are obtain by the object emitting the light moving in relation to an observer, the so-called Doppler effect. While a car horn is of a constant pitch, that pitch is increasing when that object is moving directly toward you and decreasing while moving away, but the pitch of the actual horn frequency is constant. While moving directly away or toward, the effect of the change in pitch is maximum, but what if it moves at an angle? That effect decreases with the so called cosine effect.

So when observing a spec of light that takes hours to even gather on a photo or an electronic plate, you really don't know the angle, nor the effects that other bodies may have on the degree of that apparent color shift. And this also means working with color and not black and white, so the equipment used to make these measurements also has a direct effect on your observations. A big guessing game if you ask me.

In regard to time shifts, view this on a trick with light, and light has many tricks up it's sleeve. If you for example are looking at and old fashion analog clock with a sweep second hand and remaining constant with distance, you will see that second hand tick away each second. But if you are moving away from that clock at the speed of light, the image you will take with you is the same exact time that clock shows. You are no longer looking at the clock, but the image you saw when you started your speed of light journey directly away from you. But does this mean that the clock quit ticking? Hell no, it's still ticking, but you are fooled by it's image, and you are still aging. So if your twin brother is standing by that clock, you are both aging at the same rate, you only think you are not aging, because you are being fooled by an image.

Sure Einstein would have different ideas if he worked with GPS, Loran C, and radar. And yes, critical timing does occur at twice the speed of light. Doppler shifts are also seen with lasers, a single pure frequency of light. By bouncing a laser off a window glass, a conversation can be heard within the confines of that room as the voice pressures cause a minor vibration in the glass of that window that provides a constantly changing in that light frequency due to the Doppler shift. Not easy to do with white light, as it contains all frequencies of the visible spectrum, much like the stars, so you just get a confused mess. Physicists are the weakest people I have encountered when dealing with electromagnetic wave propagation, and it's these guys that are coming up with all of these weird theories. But in their eyes, the guys that are really in the know, are laymen. Bunch of arrogrant bastards if you ask me.

LOL

I never like physicist. They are arrogrant thinking they are the next Albert Einstein.

Me, as an electrical engineer I have questioned why magnetic fields exist. And, always am curious as to unite all the fundamental forces of nature. Back in the 40-70s, they united 3 forces (weak, strong, electromagnetism) known as the quantum electrodynamic forces. The only force they left out was gravity in that equation. If we could unite that force together, we would have the theory of everything.
