Just discovered this last week, on that sizing bar is a little man icon, and if you click and drag that guy to even the map section, if a bunch of blue lines appear on the map, you have street view. That has to be incredible as you can drive along on a block, zoom in and effectively turn your head up or down and 360*.

Can't do that in my town, we are still low res and get a blur, but visited streets in my old neighborhoods and it was fantastic. I visited my sisters home near Orlando, and could see very clearly how she did her front yard. Also visited Biloxi, my God, what a mess that city is in. Google maps also extended into Venezuela, hi res, so can visit our condos down there and the same with Bogota. After touring London, not sure if I want to visit that place. Even Italy where my grandfather and grandmother were born, in high res, could follow a path where my grandfather walked, about three miles to visit my grandmother, that was great. And even found a town that has the same name as my last name. Got to get over there.

With googleearth, many of the more larger populated areas are in 3D and the photo quality is amazing. When I first learned about this program, just had to buy a new computer, google maps and earth are great. Now if they could only make my area high res, but if they did, will more than likely move to a lo res area.

OMG  I don't really believe the first two, and there's no way to verify. Haven't checked the third out myself yet, but I've seen my house and those of several family members and friends. It's cool, and a little scary. My sis saw one of her friends working in his garage.

I love Google Earth on the iPod Touch.

What's Google Earth and what the hell is an iPod?

Google Earth is a 3D map program that lets you zoom in on most any place on Earth. Elevations are quite realistically portrayed. You can change the viewing angle so it looks like it would if you were actually standing at a particular location. Now, the sea floor is included, so you can go underwater and explore the ocean terrain, such as deep trenches and seamounts. You can also look out into space :)

The street view mentioned here is part of Google Maps, which is based on the web and is only 2D. Some places will alow you to see 360 degree photos of a particular location. I've use it a lot to help with finding places, as you can actually see what the building you are looking for looks like before you get there :)

Yeah, I am kind of slow, still fooling around with this board trying to figure out how to post my own pictures, I know I need a server for this to provide a link to upload my photos too. Just haven't played with that. And reminded to update our timeline, if I ever figure that out, but for exception of my step daughter, we are done. And yes, was a very long stressful process.

In tracing the route of our Bloomington field office using street view the USCIS claims is in St. Paul, had to be some kind of vehicle with one hell of a camera to take that 360* continuous photo with perhaps GPS mapping to identify all of those street addresses. All I can say, is that I am impressed and had to be one heck of a long drive covering just about every street in the Chicago, Milwaukee area, plus other major populations practically all over the world.
