Hi all,

I have been reading the forums and am trying to plan ahead for my process. I am trying to figure out some logistics:

My fiance is in Cuba. They send Packet 3 to the US Interest Section in Havana, but I have read that all the papers that are being sent can be found on a government website. Can I just download them and bring them with me when I go? Are there other things in the Packet 3 that we will need, aside from those forms? Can the packet stay in there for a while before getting picked up?

Do they also send Package 1 (the original package I sent in first) to the Interest Section?

When Packet 3 arrives there, it has been said that my fiance needs an appointment to pick it up. If I am going to be there for the interview, can I just pick it up when I get to Havana? Or does my fiance need to pick it up? (I know there are other things to take care of, and we can get a head start on some of them. I'm just wondering if I can pick up the packet when I get there?) It may be hard for him to travel to Havana just to pick up a packet.

Any info would be helpful. Thanks!!

You can get them from the USCIS and they are linked from this site.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Also, I have been trying to read the forums and have read that there are some things in the packet that need to be sent back before the interview, or before you can even make an interview date. Is this true? Or do we just fill all the documents out and bring them all to the interview?

The thing is that I am planning on going to cuba to be with my fiance for his interview. It is kind of difficult for him to travel to Havana, so I was thinking I could just pick the packet up when I get there. But in doing this, would we be waiting too long if we have to be sending things in order to get an interview date? My understanding was that the packet 3 would be sent to Havana, I could pick it up when I get there, we could fill out the documents and bring them to the interview, for which we would already have the date set up. Can someone help me sort this out?

hola eeo,

i've posed this question to others but i'm about to start the process down the same road as you and I'm wondering if your planning to go the paperwork alone or hire a lawyer? If so, have you already found the one you will use? I'm looking for a positive and energetic referral. I've spoken to three here in LA but none seem to have substantial experience with Cuban nationals still living in Cuba.

Sending you all the best. Pluma
