Driving with the K3 visa

Gi guys,

I always read people saying that going to US with the K3 visa we are in limbo for around 3 months. But, at least can i drive with y brazilian driver`s licence? If i have an international driver`s licence, ca i drive?

If you have an international driver's license yes. But for how long depends on which state you're in.

Google the DMV website for your state for info.

International drive license, yes. I applied for a int. drive license before I enter to US, it’s valid for 12 months.

Then the insurance was quite expensive when I didn’t have a state drive license..

It depends on the state. In California, it is not needed....

"International Driving Permits

The State of California does not recognize an International Driving Permit (IDP) as a valid driver license. California does recognize a valid driver license that is issued by a foreign jurisdiction (country, state, territory) of which the license holder is a resident.

The IDP is only a translation of information contained on a person’s foreign driver license and is not required to operate a motor vehicle in California. Citations issued to a person in California who has an IDP, but does not have a California driver license will be placed on the Department of Motor Vehicle database.
