Police Certificate

Ok, I got the police certificate back (the state one) and it´s the wrong one. Somehow I was sent to the wrong office and was given a Tax Debt certificate instead (stating I owe nothing to the state). Problem is, I´m leaving Rondônia in 2 weeks and I have no time to go back to the capital to get another certificate.

Ok, but as I´ve read and been told, I only need state certificates for places I lived in for 6 months or more. On my G-325 form I stated I moved here in January, and I am moving back home now, so I´ve been here for 5 months only, meaning it´s ok I don´t get the certificate, right?

My question is, I´ll let USCIS know my address has changed, but at the same time, I´m scared they might not and then when my case reaches the consulate and I do the actual change so I get packet 3 in my home address, they´ll understand that only then (dunno how long till petition goes to the embassy) I moved.

How will that be processed? Do we put all our addresses again in the forms for the interview? Anywhere I can state I only lived here in Rondonia for 5 months?

Q20 on part I of the DS-230 asks to list all the places you have lived for 6 months or more since the age of 16. By not having Rondonia address listed would mean you would not have to submit a police certificate from there as it was only for 5 months.

Won't they inquire about the gap between addresses? I mean, I lived in X address, moved to Rondonia, and moved back to same old X address.

I would ignore Rondonia completely if I haven't put Rondonia's address down in the G-325.

Hey Laura,

Like aussiewench said, dont worry abt this... You just lived there for 5 months!!! When you list the last places you lived, they will see you were there for only 5 months. Abt the G-325, there was the address you WERE living then. Now (in 2 weeks), youll be in Rio.

Luis&Laura, Maybe I am not understanding, but what I am reading, you DO NOT have a police certificate for the place(s) you have lived since you were 16. I understand that is a requirement for you to take with you to the interview. The police certificate would have at least one place lived, if not more on it. If you can't get it at the right office before you leave, then I would guess, if you pass the interview, they would hold your visa until you do furnish them the police certificate. I thought the police certificate was obtained from your city police and not the state. It is free, but some have paid to have it issued in a very fast manner. Just my thoughts. Good luck.

No, what I am saying is that I would get a police certificate for the state I´m living at right now (I came here to be with my family while the visa is not issued), but it didn´t work out (they gave me the wrong one) and I don´t have time to get another one before I go back home (going to my granny´s b-day and staying there to wait for my interview).

I know it won´t be a problem ´cus I´ve only been here for 4 and half months, but I was wondering if I could have a problem if USICS didn´t change my address now (which we called and they did).
