Removal of conditional basis of lawful permanent residence

I just got my notice of removal of conditional basis of lawful permanent residence from immigration on 5/30.

I have been 'admitted' before that, in response to my I751 application on 3/24.

It says I should appear in person at the immigration office downtown LA. It also says that it will take some time to get the green card and that i should not travel until then, unless i get a 'passport endorsment from this service'. How do i get that endorsment?

Thanks!

Antoine

When you appear at the immigration office as stated, bring your passport and have them put the I-551 stamp in your passport - that is the 'Green Card" stamp. It will have a 'valid until' date with it and acts as proof of your legal residency while waiting for your ten year card to show up.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Congrats on the I-751 approval!

I don't understand what you mean by your 'admitted' comment; can you expand?

Do as the letter instructs and take your old card, photos etc (whatever your letter says--they are often different letters) and when you turn in the old card, the officer will put a stamp in your passport. That will be your only evidence of your PR status and you're supposed to keep it on you until your new card arrives.

Thank you Kathryn,

It helps, now you dont need an appointment with the office before you go? just show up?

I'm asking because the few times I've had to go to the immigration bldg. here in downtown LA, I always had somekind of appointment (interview etc...). And there always are very long lines...

Thanks again!

Thanks, what I meant by 'admitted' is reffering to the letter I first got saying my case was cleared but my application was still being processed and that I should wait for an official notice of status removal which I got on 5/30. The only thing is there is no appointment time... Shall I just show up at the immigration bldg. downtown LA with the letter and no appointment?

To get into the building, you must make an appointment. The system is called InfoPass, and you can find the link for it on the home page of uscis.gov

If you have difficulty getting an appointment, try later in the evening when cancelled appointments are added back into the pool of availables.

It's very simple: make an InfoPass appointment, take your documents with you, turn in your old card, give a fingerprint and autograph and get a stamp in your passport.

"Admitted" has a specific meaning in immigration-speak. It means entering the US legally through inspection at a POE--it just confused me the way you used it.

The letter you got after submitting your application is an I-797c? It extended your proof of status (expired card) while you were waiting for approval.

Anyway, make an InfoPass appointment and get your new card order going. :)
