Zan and I got our NOA2 and aaproval for the I-130 in the mail today and I have a few questions. Do they send the 'packet' to my Canadian address or to his US address?? And what exactly is in this 'packet"? We filed for CR-1, but I am visiting him in the US for two weeks and I am wondering if I should head home early or not. Any advice or words of wisdom is greatly appreciated!!!

NOA2 is the approval from USCIS. They will forward your application on to NVC directly. Both you and your husband will receive a package from NVC in the future. I wouldn't bother heading home early for the stuff from NVC. Since your husband is in the US, chances are the information will arrive there first.

Once your NVC case number is assigned, you'll be able to elect the party who will correspond with NVC for the DS-230, and pay the immigrant visa fee bill.

I think it took about one month from the date of our NOA2 to receive our NVC case # and first set of correspondence.

NVC may receive and assign a case # within a week. (Ours made it from CSC to NVC in 5 days - with a weekend included) You can check your status by calling them (603-334-0700) using your USCIS case #. Once the DS-3032 is generated you can email them your choice of agent. It seems that NVC is now using emails to forward PDF attachments of the forms. Makes the process much simpler and accessible from wherever you are. Good luck on your journey and enjoy your visit.

Wow OBX!! Tha tis great news! I will make sure to keep checking our email.....

another question...what about the photocopy of the passport...does it have to be witnessed or certified or anything? We went to a notary today to have a photocopy taken and notorized as a true copy but she said notaries couldn't do that..so I am stumped....

No the photocopy of the passport is just a basic photocopy of the biographic page. (You are referring to the DS-230 package, I assume). Just make sure it is clear and legible. Good luck. Put the NVC # on speed dial, it will be your best friend for the next couple of months! Good luck!

PS. You may not receive any emails until after you have emailed them your DS3032 and they have your email address on file. The emailing from NVC seems to be a fairly recent change.
