Or you could use that link I gave you for free ones.

I tried.

I had previously scanned the passport photo I was given from Costco (one of my 5 that will remain unused). Put that into their system but my head and chin didnt fit into the green area, rendering it useless.

So now in order to use this I have to go take a photo of me somewhere, scan it (no scanner) and print it (no printer). And what worries me is if I go to trouble to take a pic and find a scanner to scan it, I will try to use that and my head and chin won't fit into the green area.

Trust me, I want that program to work, I have seen it before. But it's not as easy as just load up any photo I have of me and my friends.

Maybe I will try taking some self portraits. Will be very difficult but Im not spending $50 to get 5 measly passport photos

Hi Everyone,

From my experience for photos needed for immigration and travel matters, I have done the following:

For the AOS (8 photos needed, American-sized):

-2 for the G-325 form for me

-2 for the G-325 form for my husband

-2 for the EAD (though I didn't apply for it, but still took it just in case, and still have those photos)

-2 for the AP (though I didn't apply for it, but still took it just in case, and still have those photos)

=Total cost: About $40-50 USD or so (I can't remember exactly)

=Done at the AAA (in NYS, done in 2006)

=Overall quality of photos and quality of service: 7/10

For my new Canadian Passport (2 photos needed, Canadian-sized)

-2 for the passport application

-I had called ahead of time, asking if they would do such. They said yes (since they had a template for it). So I went there, and bought the sheet with the photo specifications, just in case. The photographer said that "I had never done a Canadian passport photo before, but I'll try anyways and can give you a refund if it is done incorrectly". They seemed confused though, that they had to sign, date, and put 'this is a true likeness of.....' on the back of the photo, as they had never done that before either, but that was ok for them after I explained it. Thank goodness though, Passport Canada approved those correct and accurate 'Canadian-sized passport photos taken in the USA', and yes, I'm glad that I have my new Canadian passport now, with those photos.

=Total cost: About $10 USD or so

=Done at Walmart portrait studios (in NYS, done in 2009)

=Overall quality of photos and quality of service: 9/10 (will definitely go back to them again for my US Citizenship application photos and my US passport photos)

Hope this helps. Good luck on the rest of your immigration journey too.

=Total cost:

$70 (for the 2 yr card, included biometrics) + $10-20 travel expenses to the 'non-local ASC office'

$80 (for the 10 yr card, included biometrics) + $10-20 travel expenses to the 'non-local ASC office'

=Done at the USCIS 'local ASC office' (in Buffalo, NYS, done in 2006 and 2008)

=Overall quality of photos and quality of service: 5/10 (delays for the cards, was not given a 'warning' when the photos were taken, did not get to see photos beforehand, wasted extra time and extra money for this, though they didn't make me wait too long to take the photo)

Hi Everyone,

From my recent experience, in the last few years or so, for photos needed for immigration and travel matters, I have done the following:

=Done at the AAA (in NYS, done in 2006)

=Overall quality of photos and quality of service: 7/10

For the USCIS 2yr green card and 10yr green card (2-4 photos needed, American-sized):

-1 for the 2 yr green card

-1 for the 10 yr green card

=Total cost:

$70 USD (for the 2 yr card, included biometrics) + $10-20 travel expenses to the 'non-local ASC office'

$80 USD (for the 10 yr card, included biometrics) + $10-20 travel expenses to the 'non-local ASC office'

=Done at the USCIS 'local ASC office' (in Buffalo, NYS, done in 2006 and 2008)

=Overall quality of photos and quality of service: 5/10 (delays for the cards, was not given a 'warning' when the photos were taken, did not get to see photos beforehand, wasted extra time and extra money for this, but they didn't make me wait too long in line to take the photo)

For the DMV (1 photo needed, American-sized?)

-1 for a NYS driver's license

=Total cost: $45 USD (for a 4 year license)

=Done at the local DMV (locally in NYS, done in 2007)

=Overall quality of photos and quality of service: 9/10 (I can actually 'smile' in this photo, the best identification-purpose photo I ever had in my life, 'this one is a keeper' for many years to come!)

For my new Canadian Passport (2 photos needed, Canadian-sized)

-2 for the passport application

-I had called ahead of time, asking if they would do such. They said yes (since they had a template for it). So I went there, and bought the sheet with the photo specifications, just in case. Are you going to visit anytime before the interview? I got mine done at a mom+pop photo shop where my fiance lives for $12 for 6 of them.

I've also heard that Zellers does them for cheap and Wal-Mart. There is also a little booth in my strip mall by my house that does them for $10/2 (no tax) and he would cut them 2x2.

Where do you live Carrie? I might be able to help you find a place.

Sapphiredreams, thanks but I think I came up with a solution!

I'm VERY anti-paying ridiculous amounts for passport photos.

Try using that free one online http://www.epassportphoto.com/

I tried to do it with a previously scanned (Canadian standards) passport style photo and my head was too big haha. But......I plan on taking a whole bunch of photos at some point before interview and playing around with it. After you upload your photo, you play around with the sizing (it gives you guidelines), then the file comes for free and you can print it if you have the right paper. If not, (and this is what I plan to do as I have no printer), put it on a USB thingy and take it to local photoshop and print it in 8X10 size for like $3. DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A little bit of work, but no more work then getting in car, heading to mall and getting it done I suppose.

I can't believe they get away with charging $20 for 2 passport photos!!!!

AND I just got off the phone with Dr.Seiden Panel physicians for Toronto AND YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE THE SAME PHOTOS for the medical AND Montreal. AND they CAN be CANADIAN standards if that is what you have. WOOHOO! Now I only have 5 to give away as souvenirs to people ;)
