For my I-130 application I sent in "canadian sized" passport pics not realizing it until I got to the NVC stage! I did NOT get an RFE for incorrect sizing of passport pictures. For the NVC stage I made sure I sent in the "american sized" passport pics.

Just an fyi. I went to Blacks Photography (we have them in Ontario...guessing they're all over Canada too?) and I told her "I'm doing this for immigration" She asked if I wanted U.S. or Canadian passport sized pics. She did an excellent job! I would recommend going there.

Good luck! :)

And if you think about it, does the immigration officer sit there and take out their ruler to measure the pics? I mean by the naked eye, I bet they look the same size and they don't bother to measure to check.

Walmart will do any size as long as you tell them measurements and for what - I freaked out about mine as well and I think I went back and they redid them.

You will die laughing when you see what they actually do with those first pics (or is it 1 of the Package 3 ones???) I watched the lady, take my photo - take a freaking glue stick and slather it before plunking it up in the top corner of her paperwork.

A slight difference in size shouldn't have been such a big deal.

No one understood what I meant by "Canadian passport size photos." I gave multiple places the correct dimensions and at each place they simply printed out U.S. passport sized photos. They had no idea what I was talking about, despite giving them the information sheet from Immigration Canada.

Many didn't even understand me when I said I wanted Canadian passport photos. They immediately figured I'd be immigrating to the United States (which would be weird considering I was within the U.S. at the time) and got confused when I suggested something else. A few photo places even asked me why I was immigrating to Canada and couldn't understand any reason for leaving the U.S. at all.

I asked at my local Walgreens- they said the machine they have has a Country option that will automatically control picture size.

Yeah, I tried Walgreens. I'm sure they had some sort of option to cover Canada, but I apparently "lucked" out and got a moron.

Immigration Canada took the American-sized photos, so the issue didn't become a problem.

Canadian is 50x70 and American is 50x50... Shoppers Drug Mart does them too...$9.99 :) I originally sent Canadian sized one's no RFE... but for my package 3 one's, I did US size...

When I went with my Canadian fiance for his pics, OMG, it was entertaining. Went to a photo store in the local shopping center and we told him 2x2 or 50x50. He didn't believe us and went through his little notebook of various country passport sizes. Then, when the guy finally found the proper sizes for the US, he kinda chuckled. He was amazed that we actually knew the size that it was supposed to be. We had done our research BEFORE going in to the store. Oh, well. We got the pics - finally.

BTW, if you think about how many pictures have to be sent in... 2 for USCIS... 3 for Med exam... 2 for interview... there are a lot of files sitting somewhere with his pics on them. Guess that's for security? To make sure that it is the same person every time??? Hmmm...

 Wait until you file AOS, there you send in 6 more photos. I wonder what they do with them all.

hehehe And they take your photo at your various biometrics appointments and use that photo on the green cards - the passport photos never make it out of their files.

Makes you wonder... perhaps they set up all the pics they get on one day -- stick them on a wall and throw darts at 'em! Then, the pics with the dart holes get to go on to the next step, but they can't show the dart holes on the file, so the pic gets replaced with one of the others sent in!

Then, for AOS, if you need 6 of 'em... well, I guess ya get 5 chances (5 different dart boards/walls) to move on with the one left over to go on the "official file" so they HAVE to take your picture there for the ID/Passport!!??

I just got mine done at the local CAA. When you're in the AOS stage the AAA will do them for free if you have a membership. CAA charges you a small fee, though. I posted this in another thread but here is a link where you can get them done for free: Free Passport Photos

CAA charges an arm and a leg!!!!

14.25 for non members ($10 for members, still ridiculous).

So, times that by 3 sets....$45!!! R U KIDDING ME!!

Man I am so peeved right now. Oh and COSTCO DOES NOT DO 2X2

I got 4 sets done there a few months ago thinking I was set, now I find out they have to be 2X2....so have to go to Blacks or somewhere ridiculous.

OMG Blacks charges 19.95 a set up to 3 sets. Each set after that is 14.95.

ROBBERY!!! Even 6 passport size 2X2 photos would take ONE 8X10 sheet of paper. Cost $2 And they want $60!!!!!!

So I think I need about 3 sets (at least especially if we need more for AOS). SO, about 5 sets. Thats......close to $100 for them to use 2 pieces of paper and to take a crummy photo of me.

ARGRGRGAAAARRRGGGHHH

ROBBERY I say!
