STRANDED AT THE ALTAR: During one of the busiest months for marriages, wedding plans are on hold for 10,000 U.S. citizens seeking visas for their foreign brides and grooms, according to an Associated Press article. Spurred by stories of mail-order brides being abused by their American husbands, Congress approved new protections for the women in December. But the new forms weren't available until March 6. The applications in question are being held because they don't address new visa requirements that help determine the criminal history of potential spouses. "We were ready to get married this year, but I can't really make a date until we get the approval," said Bill Hall, 41, a construction foreman from Burlington, Vt., who applied for visas for his Canadian fiancée and her two sons.
