Hello everyone.

I hope that by opening this topic I am not going against any forum rules. If this is the case let me say from the beginning that I am deeply sorry.

So this is what I am interested in: I did apply for my parents as a US citizen. My mother was approved, father denied. I am in the process of completing documentation for extreme hardship case. Among other things I need to file two letters from people here in US knowing my parents. I have such friends (what are friends for if not to help in extreme hardship cases), they agree but I have no idea what that letter should depict/contain. They are also busy so they asked me to edit the letters and they will notarize them. They know my parents since they visited first time (1999) and they keep in touch with them too.

Can anyone help me regarding this matter? Is there a standard format for this letter?

Good luck to all.

Thank you for your time.

Respectfully,

simpaul

Why was he denied?

I don't understand this whole posting. Why's there extreme hardship letter needed from friends to sponsor parents? If the mother was approved, wasn't there a marriage certificate that will prove the relationship of the father and be approved together? Or, is he ur stepdad? Even, in that case, why would a letter from ur friends in US help if ur parents are living abroad. You'll need letter from ur relative, such as uncle/aunt/cousin to prove ur relationship between u and ur parents.

USC petitioning for parents:

Please read carefully: mother approved for residency, father denied. I did sponsor them for residency but now mother has to file extreme hardship doc including two letters from friends knowing both mother anfd father. They were here couple of times visiting.Being married does not automatically means that they will both be approved.

Thank you.

Why was he denied?

He had 10 years US visa. He went back and forth couple of times. At one point they denied entry (don't ask for reason because there wasn't any;you now officers.....). Visa canceled. I did apply for him too and was denied based on "deportation procedure"????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Thank you.

Did your Father ever overstay on any of his visits? I would think you are going to have to find out why he was denied entry to the US and what action was taken.

If he was deported then letters from friends are not going to change his inadmissibility to the US.

No he did not overstay. He traveled within the visa terms, meaning he would stay here 4-5 months go back stay there 2-3 weeks and so on. At one point they denied entry, canceled visa and that was all. You surely know that they don't give you any explanation. They are a state within a state.

I have got a sample letter but that one looks to simple. There is nothing that I could develop after. Would you point me something more solid than the standardized letter?

I have to try at least although chances are low.

Thank you.

Staying in the US for 4-5 months, leaving the country for only a 2-3 weeks, then coming back for another 4-5 month stay could be construed as intent to immigrate. What exactly was in denial letter on for your father's application?

The hardship letter has to prove that the US Citizen petitioners hardship if the beneficiary is not granted the VISA. There is no more solid sample letter because everyone's 'hardship' is different.

Thank you for your time. What I am looking for is a sample letter from a friend supporting the hardship letter that I am putting together. Can anyone point me to something that would help me in this direction so I can cmpose that letter and have it notarized by my friend?

Thank you.

What you have posted so far makes no sense. You may have left out pertinant information.

I would suggest you go and see a lawyer, take all the information with you.

your friend would only sign a letter, not notarize it, unless he is a notary public, but even so, i don't think notaries have the power to notarize their own signatures....must be done by another notary.

have you consulted an attorney? did they suggest you get such a letter from a friend supporting your hardship? it is highly unusual. the hardship letter must come from the USC, as I mentioned, but I guess there is room for letters of support from friends. I'm not sure, and perhaps an attorney can advise on this....but that being said, the letter if it is a support letter from a friend, must be written by that friend, not you. You can't just write a support letter in your firend's name and have him sign.
