NVC Delay for Additional Processing

We received a letter from the NVC dated 2/5/09 indicating that they received our petition and a package would be sent to my fiance's country within a week. To date, nothing has happened. I called the NVC and they indicated that our paperwork was going through "additional processing" but the person on the phone had no information to help me understand what "additional processing" meant or when I could expect the process to be completed. Has anyone else experienced this situation? Does anyone know the type of issues that might result in "additional processing"? Is it because I am a divorcee and they need to verify the authenticity of my status? Help! Just when we thought we were making progress, everything slows down again.

hi if i remember right i think kiim and russ went thru that and it lasted a couple of weeks but u might want to send her a pm an see for sure

Thank you for this link. It was very helpful to know that it may be a part of their normal processing to do additional processing - still frustrating - but, somewhat releaved for now.
