A Chinese new mother is producing so much breast milk that she baths her baby in the excess each day.

1486091.jpg

Mrs Luo, of Chongqing, says she is producing two litres of milk more than she needs to feed her six-week-old daughter Shan Shan.

Mother, husband and her mother-in-law had all been drinking the extra milk but she says they still have plenty left over.

Luo's mother-in-law said they were all beginning to feel like they were drinking too much milk: "Then I suggested why not give the baby a breast milk bath, and they took my advice," she said.

Luo said the milk bath makes her Shan Shan's skin really smooth and white, reports the Chingqing Times.

But she is looking for someone to donate her extra breast milk to as she feels that bathing her baby in breast milk is too much of an indulgence.

yea I tried my own breastmilk when I had my son, I wanted to know what he was drinking... it was actually really sweet, not something I enjoyed but he liked it.

Could you imagine how many breast pads she goes through if she's producing that much milk! I bet every morning she wakes up in a wet sticky mess! Ugh.

My wife was having to use the pads for awhile, but she's still breastfeeding now (baby is almost a year old) and I never see her using them...no letdown. :)

Actually bathing the baby in breastmilk isn't bad. It's full of immune system stuff and helps clearing rashes etc. The quantity she produces though is simply... wow. Donating the milk is really nice for babies whose moms can't make milk or moms of multiples!

I had to use breastpads for at least 3 months before the whole engorgement stuff was over. But 2l a day? Her breasts must hurt really bad!!!

This is not outside the norm in china. there is very little dairy product available, even in a city like chongqing. nothing can be wasted in china, so everything is shared. definitely lower part of the culture, though.

you think this is amazing, you should read the China Daily newspaper on thursdays. it has a "news areound china" section that should be titled "news of the weird".

try this one for news in china straight from the horses mouth:
