HG, if by the time she has her interview and he has filed for his taxes or the tax cutoff date has already came he should go ahead and scan a copy of his return for her to bring with her. It's always better to be safe then sorry. It will help speed things along in the end if they do need it.

I am filing the extension this year. So, I will be bringing the 2008 extension form. However, I got the completed 2007 tax year. I will bring my W2 for 2008, the tax extension, and draft of my 1040.

My 2007 return was completed. I will also bring the photocopy of your checking account in order to show the consulate that you received the refunds or the IRS cashed your check if you owed them.

For me, I received a refund. So, I made the photocopy of my 2007 refund via direct deposit which was made by US treasury. The amount should be the same as your 1040. I also have the copy of the direct deposit on the stimulus money that Bush gave us in 2007 as well. This is to prove that you did not owe anything to the IRS. Otherwise, you would not have received the stimulus money.

In 2008, if you finish the return, send it. If not, or you want to do extension, send an extension form and W2. If your employer can issue the letter of employment certified that you are still working, that will be great.

I think this should do it.

Hey Mohamed! How are 'ya? :) I hope you & Trina are doing well. Hmmmmmm so, I was reading your post just now... the cut-off deadline to file taxes for 2008 is on April 15th. If I were him, I would STILL have her file & take the 2008 tax return to the interview. For our interview, I'm going to do the same thing. I filed my 2008 taxes early just to be on the safe side even though though they're not due until April. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Besides looking at the time now, April 15th is right around the corner so I would recommend that your friend takes the 2008 tax returns with him to the interview. I wish him the best of luck! :) Edited by inGODShands
