I have read the thread somewhere but I failed to save it. Fiance and me are having a Filipino wedding ceremony. Iam doing everything as DIY and I am currently stuck at what wedding favors to give out to guests. Also with my invites, I am planning to use sinamay as raw materials. I am a budget and bargain junkie so I need your input. I live in Cebu and I need as much help as I can.

Any thoughts?

hi, i guess u are coming here in the US soon. A good favor is a pack of dried mango inside a sinamay bag or just wrap it with sinamay and tie it with 1inch ribbon of ur color choice. Almost all of the americans who tried to eat my dried mango like it so much. I know cebu got the best dried mango. It is allowed at the airport though because it is dried and packed. If u are having a second thought about the dried mango, u can go for anything which has "Philippines" tag or name in it. Take it easy and God bless on ur trip.

By the way, don't forget to bring ur veil, chord, etc. I had a filipino wedding here too and i made my own symbols for the wedding coz u cannot find them in the wedding stores here.

Are you also doing the decoration of your venue? I had a private wedding in our own house. I did the decoration inside and outside the house with the help of my mom and maid of honor. If you need help in this, I could give you some pointers. It was a very simple design. Would upload it in my facebook once i have our wedding pictures.

Thanks sis. Will go down that path too. We will have a church wedding and the reception will be at the conference room just a few steps from the main hall. That's a lotta place to decorate. Send me the pics!

i made my own wedding invite, it was not uniquely filipino but it was definitely personalized.

here was our photo invitation:

my wedding gown is made from the Philippines as well as my daughter's dress and also the barongs that my husband, my son and our best man wore. We had our small wedding in our church here and reception at the church hall but my husband's aunt and cousin took charge of the decorations.

Our original plan was a lakeside wedding, we have already reserved the venue a year before the wedding but had to change plans because of some unforeseen problems. Our wedding was not what we originally planned, it was definitely not the way I envisioned my wedding to be, it was soo much simpler, no glitz and glams but it was very beautiful and very memorable. There was no dry eye when we exchanged our personalized vows to God, to every person present, to each other and to our kids. My sister-in-law said she had a hard time singing the final song for the wedding because she was crying. Everybody else has forgotten the decorations, food, give-aways, dresses in our wedding but they still remember the ceremony that made them cry.

I know your wedding will be beautiful. It will not be the invitations, decorations or the give aways that will truly matter that day but the the love that you will share with your partner being sealed in the covenant of marriage.

dbears - Thank you for the kind words. I certainly needed that. I feel like I am falling behind. It was never really my choice to have a church wedding but fiance was adamant about it. I guess it has a lot to do with the fact that mom and dad never even had any pics whatsoever as they eloped to get married. I have a problem with being the center of attention too. But now, I am certainly more than excited to get this over and done with. Just want to have fun on my day.

Wedding dress will be made here too along with the ones for my daughter and MOH. I am just trying my best to play within our budget.

My wife interview is scheduled on 21st April...

She is from Cebu by the way. We did our wedding and receptions in Cafe Orchidia. Our wedding give outs consist of our wedding cd music and some items. Initially we invited 40 guess eneded up feeding 78. When we went to the Cafe Orchidia we told them that we get the 50s package deal. Well it ended up 28 more than we budgeted for the rest have to order from the menu.... the 28 persons cost me more thna the 50s package deal but overall is worth it, I love my wife and I make sure she is happy. I didnt even care for that nite what they ordered and told my MC charged it in my card. Goodluck, stick with your plan if you are in budget but expect to have more people than you plan...words travel if you know what I mean.
