Hi everyone!!!

I have a quick question. Im now here in the US through K1 visa, got married about 1 month ago and will now be applying for SSN soon (it took awhile because of the damn certified marriage certificate - it took forever from the recorders office!!) anyway, just a though... Do I need to apply for AOS before my I-94 expires? or does it go by when the K1 visa expires? I know the sooner I do it the better.. but we are now just doing it.. and my I-94 will expire mid april.. any suggestions?

Thanks. Have a good day!

Best to file for AOS ASAP as you will be out of status when the I-94 expires.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

You need to apply for your SSN very soon or you will not be given one until you have a EAD or Greencard, SSA will only issue a SSN if you have more than 2 weeks until your I-94 expires.

Your K1 has expired it is once only entry visa and as soon as you use it it is no longer a valid visa, your stay in the US is governed by the expiry of your I-94.

It is always better to apply for AOS before your I-94 expires that way you do not accrue any "out of status" time.

you are still eligible to apply for SSN. 76 days after your arrival here in the US your allowed to have one. or apply for SSN 14 days prior to your i-94 expire. just bring your marriage cert, i-94 and passport for your identification.
