Okay... we're honeymooning in Hawaii at the end of July/beginning of August. :) I'm thinking I'm going to have to give in, too. The more I read on here, the more I get the courage to do it! So, if our wedding is on a Friday, and we leave for the honeymoon the following Thursday... when do you all suggest I go for "THE WAX"??? :clock:

COOL! Hawaii will be awesome! Well I would do it say Tuesday before the wedding... then any redness will have gone away (takes about 1-2 days) and you'll be smooth as a baby's ####### by Friday!! And it lasts WEEKS so on the honeymoon you won't need to even worry about shaving at all!

That's a good question! I normally like to go at least a full day before I see my baby... this way everything is at it's optimal smoothness, and the redness has disappeared.

It would help for you to do a trial maybe to see how long things stay sensitive (since I am sure some people are more effected by it than others), and also to figure out how long the results are perfect for you. If you go a day or two before the wedding, then a week later you *may* not be completely happy with the state of things. Although you can also tweeze the odd hair that may show up within the first couple of weeks and keep things neat this way.

Actually the more I think about it, you probably should do a trial run anyway... I don't like the idea of doing some completely new anything immediately before your wedding/honeymoon, since any unexpected results (too sensitive, person doing it sucks, etc) could kinda ruin things for you.

I agree with the above, a trial run is ideal if you've never waxed "down there" before. Why don't you try it out in the next month or so, then it's fully grown back for your wedding if you choose to wax again. I have super sensitive skin (am a redhead and pale) and the wax doesn't bother me, besides the usual redness for a day. Don't be alarmed by any slight puffiness, that is normal!!

Well, right now it is a shaving thing... and the amount varies on my mood, when I'm going to see him, and how much hot water is left in the hot water tank! Good call on the trial run... OMG... can't believe I'm considering this. I just hate the bumps. Ugh.

That's the best part about waxing to me, there are no bumps. You may get an occasional ingrown, but I just pluck with tweezers. I hate shaving there because the red bumps are awful. Waxing leaves you a smooth canvas!! LOL

Eeeeep, I'm so excited. My husband send me something to ''brighten'' things for my mood apart. He gave me the hint that it was being sent locally. So I'm assuming flowers. I'm 'slightly' allergic to them, but I'll suffer because I love him that much XD

Great thread. I'm learning way more about some members than I ever thought possible.

A great product (if you are a shaver, or have to shave) is Tendskin. I swear by it!!!! Leaves ya smooth, no bumps nothin! You put it on after shaving.

Tendskin is good. I haven't seen it in the US but if you head to the men's shaving products or ethnic shaving products aisle you can find two products which are really effective: Shave Secret, which goes on prior to shaving, and Bump Stopper shaving gel.

there is a cream you can use emla creme I think... to stun the area.. They recommend it for waxing

http://www.skinsite.com/info_emla_cream.htm

I have that. It numbs the skin and decreases the sensation of pain. But you need to make sure you follow the directions for it to work properly. You have to ask the pharmacist for it, though. But that was in Canada. Not sure if/how it's available in the US. You can probably order it online, though. lol

Waxing is super expensive in the US compared to Canada. I wonder how laser hair removal compares? I'm pretty leary of going to just anyone. I once had a bikini wax go wrong and was pretty badly burnt. Sure put a damper on my sex life for a while.:crying::( I'm not sure which hurt more.

If ur a wuss and do tlike needles, Emla cream is good for that too, numbs the area. Wuss!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I was reading a thread in MENA and someone said a law was just passed in NJ outlawing bikini waxes?? I didn't read it all because I had to leave, but it's something you might want to check out. Someone from another area said it was that way too in their state as well. Something about not sterilizing equipment right or something? Yuck!

It's true. We were all laughing about this at work yesterday. Like our government, which is in shambles, has NOTHING else better to do then to put a ban on bikini waxes. Also, I don't see how doing this improves our quality of life? I don't even understand the law..ie. what is it for exactly?

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Amanda, we're in America now! Don't you remember that when ONE bad thing happens it ruins it for the rest of us! Hence why kindereggs are illegal here. :P

Two women got injured during a bikini wax a few years ago and one sued.. so now they think illegalizing it is going to make everything better.

It doesn't matter to me really, I'll just drive the 10 minutes and go to Philly for a wax if need be.

Donne moi une poptart!

Yeah that's ridiculous!! As long as you go to a registered, professional salon you have NOTHING to worry about! It's perfectly safe. I can't believe NJ did that, and it was a MAN may I add who wanted to pass the ban. What the hell does he know about waxing anyway.
