My Medical Exam Experience!

So, I went to get my medical exam done on Monday. Here's what happened.

My appointment was at 8:00 am. I filled out some paperwork for them, and waited for an hour and 20 minutes. They finally called me in. The nurse checked my eyes, measured my height and weight, and took my urine sample. She then took me to a different room, and took my blood pressure. She then took my blood. She then asked me to change into a gown. She came to check on me and said that the doctor would be in. I waited for 10-15 minutes.

The doctor came in and asked me a few simple questions. "How long have you been in US?" "What do you do?" "Are you on a student visa?" He asked if I had any medical problem or mental problem. He asked if I take any medication. He then looked in my ears, mouth, listened to my heart, and did the knee thing (where the knees jerk) with a hammer. He asked if I had had chicken pox. He then asked when was the last time I had a tetanus shot. I told him a long time ago, so he said that I should get one. (I expected it. No big deal.) The nurse comes in a few minutes later, and gave me a shot. She went away, and I was waiting for a while.

The doctor then came in and asked me about my last chest x-ray. I just had a chest x-ray 2 months ago. He said that what I had (the paperwork) wasn't good enough because of the way it was written. He told me to go back to the doctor (which I told him I didn't want to). I told him that I would just rather get it done there. (I just don't like the hospital I have to go to with my insurance.) He said that he felt bad because I had an insurance, so I should get a tetanus shot and get the chest x-ray from my doctor for free. I told him I didn't want to. So, I waited a while, and then another nurse or radiologist came in, and she took my chest x-ray. I then got dressed. I waited a while again. The doctor told me that I was good to go and that I just had to return on Friday to pick up the results and sign the form.

So, by the time I got out, it was 11:00. So, I was at the doctor's office for 3 hours!!! It was bad because it was crowded, too. It was not a bad experience, though. I was so worried before I went, but it wasn't bad except the fact that I had to wait for so long.

Now I just have to finish filling out all the other forms.

Oh, yeah, the exam cost $110. But since I got a tetanus shot ($26) and chest x-ray ($32), the total came out to be $168. I expected it to be around $200, so it's fine.
