I could only show 2 years of IRS tax returns (because i was too young to have a tax return 3 yrs ago), and my parents (co-sponsors) for my husband only showed 2007 tax info i believe, but regardless they only showed 1, i sent in all the proof i could of all the assets i own, copies or car titles, and such, i also showed copies of my employee letters, that i have a job here, and copies or w 2s and also that my now husband has 2 jobs in the U.S and showed his employee letters and w2s and tax returns for 2 years just like me. I think if you do the best you can, and send the most info that you can, i dont think there will be a problem. When alfredo went for his k-1 visa appt. in mexico, they didnt even want to see my parents co-sponsor paperwork, they were just interested in mine, they looked it over, and said that it was fine. hopefully, the same will happen with the AOS process. Good luck, and hope this helps.

I can't find my tax returns for 2005 and 2006, but I do have 2007, what can I do to satisfy the 3 years of tax returns. If the receipts from the IRS is good enough?

Hi Doll.

Go to the IRS web site, there is a form you can down load, fill it out with the years of the taxes you need, fax it to them, and they will mail you transcripts of the years you requested. Its free and you should receive them in a week. This is acceptable by NVC and the embassy at the time of the interview. Good luck.

Call the IRS at 1 (800) 829-1040 and request a tax transcript for the 2005,2006 and 2007. tax transcripts are your income tax returns that have been accepted by IRS. they work the same way, infact they are more reliable as they are a proof that your tax returns have been accepted by IRS. i requested mine and it arrived within a week. these days it might take a little longer due to the tax season but it shouldnt be too long.

There is an IRS office near to where I live. I called them and was told I could get them in person there. Are those the same transcripts you are talking about here?

+1 on the week-or-so estimate. I faxed form 4506-T (http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf ) to the IRS (fax number included in the instructions to the form, or page 2) and got the transcripts in the mail. The service is free of charge.

I actually just called the IRS number and spoke to an agent. He said mailing would take 2 weeks, but if I was near a fax machine, he could fax it to me right then. I was and so he faxed it, took 20 minutes.

Call the IRS, and order tax transcripts for the past years. It takes about 5 minutes through the automated system, and you should have the transcripts within a week.
