Hot off the VJ homepage news!!

"USCIS and FBI are on schedule to meet the next two goals: all name checks requests pending longer than 90 days to be completed by May 30, 2009 and, by the end of June 2009, the FBI will complete 98 percent of USCIS name check requests within 30 days and process the remaining two percent within three months. USCIS and the FBI will continue to focus on sustaining a rigorous and efficient screening of each name check request.

Elimination of the name check backlog is an example of USCIS’ commitment to making timely decisions about immigration applications and petitions, while maintaining the security and integrity of America’s immigration system."

Happy day to all in AP hell-it will soon be over!

It is believed that this is at the petition approval level and not the AP. Good news though.

Yes - there are more agencies involved in name checks at the consulate level...as we all know the mysterious "multiple agencies". It would be nice if these multiple agencies were setting the same/similar goals.

I am an idiot...geez

It's okay Erika - you aren't the first to make this assumption. Those of us who have been in AP know it doesn't apply to us, as we know that the FBI is only one of several agencies performing the name/background checks. So far, these new goals don't seem to be speeding up the process for those in AP, unfortunately.

Don't worry Erika! I would actually be more worried if this statement applied to AP, since we are almost to 9 months of AP now and I would be wondering what happened to us if name checks were completed in 30 days. So stop your head bashing--I'm not any worse off.

The way i read it is that 98% of cases pending more than 90 days should be completed by May and June of 2009 which should give alot of people hope but there is still 2% that will not be I am still hoping for that May or June date. DOS told me there was not any checks conducted on my case until it reached the embassy and if you check my timeline you will see how fast it moved so I do believe that. Although I read that once the FBI submits the name check the cousualte can order additional checks on any information that they received until every hit or red flag has been investigated

I believe if this is true, it will help our cases whos's stuck in AP process, to be processed faster. If you recall FBI did the samething 2 years ago and i had this friend who's fiance's name was in AP for 10 months and they got clearance two months after. He was not sure if it happens to be that her case was processed in line or was as a result of FBI/Immigration clearance.

What i know for sure that prior you go for an interview, every case must have a clearance from FBI and Homeland Security or else you have to wait. i guess we have to wait and see what happens. its the most painful thing i have ever experienced in my life.

The way i read it is that 98% of cases pending more than 90 days should be completed by May and June of 2009 which should give alot of people hope but there is still 2% that will not be I am still hoping for that May or June date.
