Well, like I said earlier, I really don't have a hard time getting to sleep. I just feel like I don't have as much time now like I did before. The "normal" work day would be from what? 8-5? Well if they get off at 5 and don't go to bed till 10, that's 5 free hours they have after work. I definitely don't have that after work, because I have to get in bed so I feel rested for the next day.. so I'd have to get up at 7:00 in order to get those 5 hours to myself. But after working late the day before I really don't feel like getting up that early. Plus, thanks to Day Light Saving Time, the sun doesn't rise till 7:30, making me want to stay in bed even more!

Try working a rotating shift. One week days, next swing and then graveyard!! Then you start over.

i worked swing shift for two yrs. the first graveyard shift- i was hallucinating! the worst part was coming off 12-8 and heading into 8-4. i think it's much easier to get used to working one shift all the time- even if it's nights.

Tom worked 1900-0700 six days a week in Bahrain for a year. He never got used to it. It ruined his eating habits as he would just eat once at midnight and then go straight to bed when he got home. His boss also made it worse by suddenly switching him to days for a week without time to adjust or asking him to work through the next day as they would have some VIP visiting.
