Congratulations, Sapphire! If we had done that, we could afford playoff tickets! Gotta love a team that goes from being dead last to 6th place in the space of two months. I grew up playing pond hockey---or, rather, canal hockey on the frozen Erie Canal (don't tell my mom)---but never really followed the NHL until now. It wasn't marrying a Canadian that made me a fan; it was the Blues doing what they just did.

Best of luck to your Blues in the series! They scare me. Heh.

I decided after a two year hiatus to watch the playoffs. The only problem is, the Blues are in the playoffs, and they are facing the Canucks. I've NEVER cheered for a team (well, since I was like 12), other than a Canadian team. What am I going to do?? :lol:

My Playoff predictions--Note predictions and who I cheer for may differ,lol

Boston vs Mtl!! Boston has a great team, solid goaltending. Boston in 4

Caps vs rangers. Rooting for caps, and want them to win, but they lack solid netminding, and the rangers are solid in net. Say rangers in 6 (hope I'm wrong)

Carolina/New Jersey. Carolina has been hot, Cam Ward is back to his great self, and Brodeur is no slouch either. Carolina in 7

Pittsburgh vs Philly. Pittsburgh in 4, new coach has them playing great hockey

San Jose vs Anaheim. San Jose in 5

Detroit vs Columbus: Detoit in 6

Vancouver vs St Louis: Both temas have great goaltending, but loungo is just a tad better. Canucks in 7

Flames vs Blackhawks. I'm a flames fan, but Calgary hasn't been playing well due to injuries and having to sit people because of salary cap issues. Hawks have a lot of great young talent and solid netminding. Hawks in 7

Ok, time to study

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Carla, cheer for the Blues!! If we advance, hubby and I are going to try to score tickets. We will try for game 6 if we can, but I can't figure out if it's sold out or they are not yet selling tickets. Last I looked, you could still get tickets to games 3 and 4, but nothing under $183 per ticket.

Blues-Canucks will be close. They are pretty evenly matched.

This is really fun.

Every now and then you can find people selling hockey tickets on Craigslist for the actual ticket price.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

All I have to say is, flames...you and I should go out and look for a Goalie, because Three-or-more...uh I mean, Theodore STINKS!

I can't believe we lost that game. Oh wait, yes I can!

Any other GOOD goalie in net, and that game would have been 3-1 for the Caps.

All I have to say, is he better show up to play on Saturday, or they are DONE.

A pre-game nap would have been a good idea for me. It's two hours later here when they play.

I wish Luongo weren't quite so good. But if the Blues focus on playing hockey and putting some pressure on him instead of shoving and tripping Vancouver players and taking dumb penalties, they might do better tomorrow.

Oh well, it ain't over til it's over, to quote the inimitable Yogi Berra. Or, to quote my husband, you haven't won anything until you've won four. GO BLUES!!

It was kind of nice seeing them show the Vancouver skyline. That was right near the hotel we stayed at when we went for his visa interview. We are sentimental saps.
