Haha yah this is a great site indeed!

you can pay the IV online and after that you need to send the DS-230 packet along with the original documents.

for more details you can go on to Lingche short cut.

Well,

From here...don't wait mails from NVC...Pay the 400 bill online...login in to the page that u have paid 70 bill..u will find 400 bill..pay it, when it shows paid, get the coversheet printed from there and add it with the DS 230 forms and supporting docs and photos (u will get instruction page online where u can find what to be sent with the DS 230) and just send.

Ur wife should go for the medical once the NVC schedules an interview date..unless u don't get an interview date, I think, u should not do medical at once..

Good Luck

Sonia

if your wife's passport is was issued more than 6 months ago, then yes, you will need a police certificate from the regional passport office that issued the passport.

GPSingh - That format is fine. The NVC also requires the Passport Office PCC, so you need to get that before submitting the DS-230 package. If your wife can get the Passport PCC, she can send you a color scan via email. NVC will accept a color printout of the scan, and your wife can bring the original Passport PCC to the interview. That is what I did with my case, and my case was completed without any issues.

I had my wife get her Local Passport PCCs for the two towns she lived in since she was 16 just to be safe. Here is what is listed on the Department of State Reciprocity website for Indian Clearance Certificates:

Police Records

Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:

* All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office. These are usually more dependable than those obtained at a local level and indicate that the subject had no serious criminal convictions on record at the time of passport issuance. Applicants whose Indian passport was issued within the past six months may present just the Passport Office Police Certificate, and need not obtain additional police clearances.

* Applicants over age 16, whose passports were issued more than six months previous to visa application, must also obtain a police clearance from the District Police Office serving the applicant's place of residence.

* Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.

* Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.

* Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India.

Good Luck!!
