Hello Gang.. My Fiance sent two packets via Air Mail from Kiev Ukraine.

One was in January and the second she sent on February 25th .. The second one is important coz it contained the divorce translations.

I have been trying to track the number they gave her with no luck. USPS said that the tracking number has not been entered in to the system.

I also have been told that DHL is not working there anymore. What am i doing wrong?

Waiting part is painfull i know.. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO GET TO THAT POINT FIRST!!!

Thanks

Ilya

Have your fiance scan the documents into a "file" and e-mail them to you and you can print them on a printer in Ukraine. Quicker and more reliable

What you are doing wrong is using the Ukrainian mail system. I lived there 2 years. My mother (God love her) sent me a letter every week, she likes to write letters. In two years I received exactly TWO letters. I told her to stop wasting her satmps, but she wouldn't give up. My wife would absolutely NOT use the mail system in her business or personal life. All her mail was sent to a private delivery service, like a private PO box, where she picked up her mail. If DHL is no longer there, try FedEx. There are also private delivery services, we used one to send many of my wife's things here in boxes before she came.

Also download packet three from the website. We have yet to receive packet 3 for the interview. We still have the flat in Donetsk and it has never arrived.

This system also works good, provided she has easy internet access and the documents don't need to have original signatures

The reference was that DHL is no longer here in the States....

FedEx International overnight is 3 days to and from Chicago and Moscow.

I am not sure it it is the same.. for the Ukraine as it is for Russia.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. It almost makes me think that hand delivered with someone flying over is better :-)

I don't think there will much difference. You can contact Brett Ousley (American) or any of his staff at Kiev Connections. They are located in Kiev. Alla and I rented our apartment from their agency during our recent stay in Kiev. They all speak English and can give their thoughts on which method works well. There is a US phone number to use that links directly to their office in Kiev.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

I always found that to be best for important documents. Not the cheapest though. :)

Just for the laughs. First package mailed on January 24th. Second Feb. 24th. They both arrived on the same day March 13th, and yes the mail man was laughing too.

Go figure
