If he comes then you could marry and file for AOS and advance parole. The advance parole processing time is 3 months.

It is valid for one year. An alien may make multiple entries into the U.S. within one year by using an Advanced Parole. Also, Advance Parole may be renewed.

The problem with this is that you need to prove that you lived together and all that stuff in the AOS interview.

Another option is to get married. The if you you go abroad you just apply for direct consular filing(YOu need to stay 6 months in the country where you will process the application)

Finally. I am in the position of your will be husband. I have decided that since I took the decision to marry in the USA with my will be wife, I will just concentrate in going to the USA. Unfortunately this process puts the present and future life on hold for about 2.5 years. It is a difficult decision to make. Every situation is different, but every single thing you decide now, will have an impact on your next 3-5 years.( and this is without considering the marriage part)

Thanks for replying - I think that what we will do is go ahead with the K1 and have him come back to get married and see my mother before she dies. After that, we may try for an expedited Advanced Parole or just abandon the entire thing and file CR1. We bought a house together, have joint bank accounts and we are OLD!!

You are not old.... I wish you the best on whatever decision you take. In the mean while we are on the same boat now....Waiting for NOA@2 :)

Thanks! Lars said to me today that he wanted us to get married before November 27th - my birthday. When I asked him why he told me that he always wanted to marry a woman in her 40's! On the 27th....I'll be the big 5 0.

Honestly, he had made the decision to come here, find work here and we had a lot of plans! This just happened and.....we love to travel and with this job, we will be able to see things and go places that might have been out of reach for us otherwise and we do feel that we are young enough still to take full advantage of the benefits this job offers. It's complicated now but....it's also one big #### adventure and I'm more excited now than I have been in a long time. We finally feel that our lives are off of HOLD and back on GO!

Good morning March family! Richard, hope Joanna made it in alright! Well guys, I've had some big news of my own today - Lars took a job in Africa for two years! We are still going forward with the K1 but a lot of unanswered questions right now......a lot to think about! I'm excited and a little sad all at the same time. Hope ya'll have a great day!

Hi Missy... yes, thank you, Joanna did make it... and the border patrol gave her NO problems and in fact asked to see her return ticket which is for July 8th and they went ahead and gave her until 12/21 to leave... go figure??? She can't stay because of the kids but it was pretty cool to see.. .since I really was expecting the worse.

I am excited for you Missy, Lar's new job sounds like it fits very well with your lifestyle and getting life OFF hold is soooooo good!

Be good everyone

See you soon

Yeah thats crazy eh...22 days. No expedite either. Odd how they just slam one through so fast with no apparent reason. Maybe its a good sign though....maybe all March, April and May filers are on different people's desks and that guy just started at the wrong end of his pile. I'd feel better knowing I was at least on or NEAR a desk rather then stuffed in a back closet somewhere.
