Our March Family looks like 81 strong now...

I was not able to learn anything. I was told that the visa should be processed normally. The background check will be for the UK, but he would interview with the Indian Consulate... so it seems that everything is fine. Except this waiting game is starting to take a lot out of me...

On a positive note, I'm going to India with my mom to do wedding shopping (June 28-July 5th), and he will be coming too! Haven't seen him since March 3rd. :(

Wedding shopping is always GOOD! You will be there with your SO the same week I will be with mine (hopefully on a very big ship in the Caribbean). Yes, this waiting takes it's toll on all of us, no doubt. Thank GOD for WEBCAMS *evil grin*

Yeah, let's talk about something else... like exercise :) Or all those houses you are selling!!!! or maybe snakes

Everyone I know has had a ball with the snake story....that is SO last weeks news!

I guess the change in our numbers has more to do with more filers appearing now. I mean, when we started there were less than 70 of us and now there's 81. The bigger our family is, the longer it will take?

As for the real estate market, it's time it picked up. First timers are really starting to get interested in the tax credit since it was announced that it could be used as a down payment. I am very happy to stay busy right now, it makes the time go by faster, sort of.

Well, my March Family... I have had ALL the fun I can stand for one day... I am heading home and taking a NAP!

Yes, Missy, partially because the march pool is larger and partially because of the slowdown last week... It will turn.. I am convinced :)

The wedding is going to be fairly simple. The thing we can't avoid is how large it gets. There are bound to be at least 400-700 people, and that is what becomes an issue when planning the reception. The wedding will be at the Sikh Temple, and the reception at a hotel that I have picked out (they are great with outdoor caterers and overlook the Long Beach marina). I just wish I could start setting dates. I know some relatives from the UK, his UK buddies, some Canadian friends and family, and relatives in India will need to get Visas... It is such a grueling and ridiculous #######-shoot. I really wish that the IGOR dates would normalize so that we could know what is going to happen. Everything is just so tiring.

Events for our traditional Indian wedding:

Bridal Shower

Sangeet (song and dance night)

Bachelorette/Bachelor night

3 days of being rubbed with yellow goo (to make us fairer and more attractive)

The henna party

the night before - when I receive my wedding wardrobe and I am prepared for the marriage

the wedding

the reception

* with all these events... it all adds up!

When do you all think is the best time to plan the wedding date?

Oh honey... we don't have time for the webcam... I wish! Our work schedules make it impossible for online chatting, we do talk on the phone all the time. I am his personal secretary and alarm clock. When will he be of any use to me (smiling coquettishly)?

coquettishly... great word...

400-700 people? OMG, I would go insane trying to organize that kind of an event. I am partially insane trying to organize ours for maybe 30 people... Most of that insanity though is because we don't know when it might be.

Good luck!!!!!!

A lot of people are asking me, "Oh my goodness are you so stressed out planning the wedding? Picking the caterer? Picking the dress? Dealing with bridesmaids??" And I'm like, actually planning the wedding is a piece of cake compared to the stress of all the immigration visa stuff!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I am not sure if it's me, being a guy or what... but it is very difficult (for me) to plan this whole thing and deal with the USCIS at the same time. I am seriously thinking about getting married on a ship in the Hawaiian Islands... they take care of everything.. and if people can't make it... oh well :)

I wanted to go to Vegas or Florida or some kind of destination but I have three grown children and a sick mother that would KILL me if I just ran off. We are having a very small ceremony and then a party after at my sister's house. She and her partner have a house on Dog River in Mobile and a big yard and it's the perfect place for a good old fashioned "throw down" (that's southern for party - in case ya'll didn't know)

Dealing with the waiting, the changing timelines, the waiting, the waiting.....Lars will be lucky if I have my sanity by the time we are together again!

On a happier note - My daughter, Maggie is here with me for a week! She just turned 22 and is here visiting before she starts summer session of college. I am SO happy to have her here with me right now, she helps keep me busy and thinking about other things and it is absolutely WONDERFUL to not come home to an empty house at night and have someone to eat dinner with! Yay for Maggie!!
