hmmmm.... I wonder if this would do any good?? USCIS-COMPLAINT@DHS.GOV

Or maybe try mailto:vsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov and say that the explanation provided was incomplete and/or unsatisfactory?

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

So the consulate received our case a week ago (at least according to DHL). No packet yet. Ugh! the waiting for this is worse than waiting for the NOA2!

Perhaps this will help:

1) 2 days after NOA2, starting calling NVC: 603-334-0700 press 1 then 5.

2) Once NVC has your case, they assign a new case #. Ask them what date they sent your file to the embassy & also for the NVC case #.

3) Once you know the date NVC sent off the file, track it at DHL's website: http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef For the reference code, enter EXP 10 JUL 2009A (adjust using dates just before the date NVC told you), with a shipping range of that day to a few days later (July 13 - July 14 worked for the example above). Look for shipments to your beneficiary's embassy.

4) To find out if the embassy processed the packet, call the Dept of State before 5pm: 202-663-1225 press 1 then 0

5) You can also call the DoS to find out your interview date once you believe the embassy has scheduled it.

Also, you can get a jump on the required forms if you haven't already: http://germany.usembassy.gov/visa/kv_processing.html

Ok, well we called and all they could tell us was the the NVC had shipped the case on aug 24.

Richard - the email address I used for the ombudsman is below. Or have you tried that? I got a reply, albeit a canned one.

cisombudsman <Cisombudsman@dhs.gov>

I never would have believed my journey to happiness would begin with something called an "I-129F"

03/19/09 - I-129F Sent

03/20/09 - NOA1 (rec'd harcopy 3/26/09)

03/24/09 - Check cleared

03/25/09 - Touched

8/12/09 - Touched (4 hours before NOA2 email)

8/12/09 - NOA2 email received

***Received email at noon (Weds)

***USCIS site did update with the status

***Was 113 on Berkeley list; 156 on VJ list

I just wrote a general gripe back in June about lack of information once a petition is filed. I got a canned email response. I thought Richard had sent a complaint in email, but I might have missed the purpose or what exactly was occurring.

An ombudsman is someone who researches problems or helps settle complaints. The USCIS has one - must be very busy, even if not very useful.

Wow....I guess it would be an exercise in futility to even try to get anywhere with someone like that. I would imagine that is a MORE than full time job. I bet they never really do anything, it's just a title.

The response I got from them in June is below. Never heard another word. I basically complained that they should have more transparency and should get their web site up to date. If VJ can do it, then that proves it can be done. I volunteered severl years ago as an ombudsman for the department of aging here in Texas - basically going to nursing homes a few evenings a month and listening to complaints. I didn't have any weight to do anything, but the state did. And the NH would try and settle anything I brought to them rather than hearing from the state. So it worked out well - just depressing in a way.

This office is obviously a paid employee and so one would think they'd have more power - but I agree I doubt they do much other than say "thanks for the mail."

Dear Sir/Madam:

Thank you for contacting the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CISOMB) in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Under the authority of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, the CIS Ombudsman assists individuals and employers who experience specific problems during the USCIS benefits seeking process, largely to identify problems and to formulate recommendations to improve the USCIS service.

We believe that first hand information from individuals like you is the best source for identifying systemic problems in the immigration benefits process. Our office will consider the information you provided as we develop recommendations to improve USCIS’ practices and procedures.

Thank you for contacting our office.

Sincerely,

CIS Ombudsman
