I'm starting to get the idea that they enter a worst case date in the beginning and then adjust closer to a more realistic date, so folks don't get overly hopeful of a fast process from the outset. But just my thoughts. My date has been slowly getting closer as well, but don't see how that can be based on the most recent numbers. Even considering last Thursday's success, the number for the week wasn't very impressive.

Ok, I just had to crunch some numbers to see if that statement about last week was true or not... and this is what I found... I only went back 6 months and broke the approvals down by week. I did this quick and dirty, but its close enough... and guess what pattern appears? That is right you, you guessed it, the last week of each month approvals almost double over the normal weeks... that said, last week was a pretty good week 42 approvals vs the best week of 67 (which was the last week in February). Having done this in a quick and dirty format... I think I will have to take some time and do it more formal and more accurate and over a longer period of time to see what happens to the numbers then.

Based on the average approval days that I have seen for most of the January filers so far.....it's about 105 days, I had already estimated that we should receive NOA2 sometime around end of June, first of July....so I'm good. I was just counting up the days and it's only 67 more days until July 12th and I don't know about the rest of you guys, lately time seems to be flying by here! I have a ton of stuff to do before Lars comes home again and the real estate market is picking up (I'm a realtor) so I've been BUSY!

Sounds like our math basically agrees, Missy. I am thinking about the same timeframe. Although I try to tell myself it'll be mid-July, I can't help but think it should be late June.

Glad to hear you're staying busy. If real estate is starting to move again, that's great news for all of us!

Here in Jackson, we are very lucky - we haven't been hit as hard as some of the other markets. But, having said that - yesterday we pulled the numbers for the last three years, by month and yearly totals and we could see the move up and then down and now back up again. First quarter 2009 has been awful but it's slowly creeping up. When people start buying houses again, consumer confidence starts going up and that helps everyone. Now, if we can just get Fox and MSNBC on board and convince them to stop with the doom and gloom.....

Do you check the Berkeley web site below? It shows week-by-week approvals for each service center. If so, are you seeing a discrepancy in what is there versus what is shown in VJ? The overall numbers don't match, but I've never looked deep to see where the differences are.
