So what are yall most excited to show or do with your fiancee/fiance here in America?

I'm like obviously excited to introduce her to all my friends and family here, and show her our home. But what else you think would be cool to do with your fiancee when they get here?

I'm wondering all that they will find strange, cool, interesting here once they get to the Usa.

I know traffic, driving, roads, are so much diffrent here then in the PI.. waaah.. was crazy over there I tell ya.

Guess there are alot of restraunts to try here that she hadn't ever been too.

Id like to take her to one of these theme parks sometime (Universal Studios!), but that would be later down the road (haha alot to take care of in the present.).

I want to take her to theme parks like Disney World and Universal Studios. Las Vegas will probably be our first trip after she is here. And I definitely want her to see the Grand Canyon. I had seen pictures of the Grand Canyon all my life and wasn't that interested in going, to be honest. But when I finally saw it, it blew my mind.

I don't go anywhere without thinking, "I can't wait to show Amy that." The wait stinks, but it's a pretty cool way of passing the time.

That is a 64,000 dollar question with a very complex answer overall. Being an 'old fart', although there are many things that I would want my SO to experience. I think for us, it is more a question of getting settled and getting comfortable with such drastic change. Getting the kids settled and in school, teaching them English and remembering that this is a pretty big life change for everyone and taking things a little on the slow side so as to not overwhelm anyone. Meeting family and friends is certainly one I would like to do. I think my SO is also focused on getting a job and settling in more than anything else. I am reminded of the old adage "How do you eat an Elephant?" :)

Oh, Grand Canyon was that mind blowing eh? Cool.. I thought of at some point visiting diffrent national parks together, like yellowstone.. etc. Think it would be amazing to experience all of Gods wonders with my baby. I really wanna see niagra falls at some point in our life. Heh.. I think ahead to much though I think, LoL.. takes money to do all those things... haha.... Lot of saving ahead.. maybe 5 years of saving per trip with my Job (HAHA LOL). But eventually it would be nice to see them all, and God willing we will be able to. Yay!

Hi all,

Well I agree take things slowly everything we be new and I think also to make them as comfortable.

For sure there will be home sickness , regardless where they come from .. get an international phone card loadrd up with alot of mins you are going to need it.Remember as we traveled we experenced new smells, people culture it will take time.English is a huge issue the better they understand the easyer it will be to culture here in USA.I live very close to the beach look forward just walking at sunsets with her as all other things will come like the attractions

Disney ect. But it will take patients and love when our loved ones come .. Rome was not built in a day ..

But love is for ever !

Welcome MaryandTim!! You are here just in time for lots of movement at VSC!! It is so exciting to see January approvals now and to see our estimated approval date moving closer and closer!

We LOVE to travel. In June of 2007 we took all of our kids on an old fashioned road trip to the Grand Canyon. We left Mobile, Alabama and headed west! It was great and something we all talk about when we are together. In January of 2008 we flew into JFK and rented a car and drove down to Mobile and that was fun as well. We too are "old farts" and love getting in the car and exploring. What I have discovered when traveling with Lars is the stuff that we see all of the time - Stuckeys, Dairy Queen, and back roads are what he loves to see. New Orleans is one of his favorite places too. And something else I learned, he knows WAY more American History than will ever know!

We picked out wedding rings the other day, going to go ahead and order them next week, sort of picked out a dress and making small plans now.....very impatient to make the BIG plans!

Ya'll have a great weekend!

Missy... wonderful that you have picked out rings... I am looking forward to doing that myself. Hopefully when Joanna comes here in June that is something that we (or I) want to do. She wants to get her engagement ring sized. :) It is kind of funny... the things we kind of take for granted here and others see (almost) with childlike eyes :) It is good to remember that many times it is the little, the simple things in life that a full of splendor.

I have been crunching numbers on the recent approvals... VSC was sooooo slow when we first were looking and filing back then it was 152 days... currently if you throw out the outliers the VSC is only 98 days which is down 10 days (from 108) just last week. :)

I know! I am sooo ready for this to be over with. We had already been living together for a while when Lars was denied entry last year.....the house needs some painting, the yard needs some work, the dog misses him......not to mention ME missing him. I think I have everything ready for the interview part. I just wish that some of the other Danes that had been through this process had posted a review about the interview at the embassy in CPH or any information about what to expect there. Even the Embassy website has very little information. Lars did say he was going to go by there next week and see if he could ask some questions. July will be here before we know it!

Missy, have you posted in the regional forum to see if some are lurking there that might be able to give you some insight?

No, I haven't. I was very surprised to find out that there are THREE other Danish couples going through this right now. I guess I need to go post something over there and see if anyone can help all of us that are getting ready for our interviews. Good idea!!

Thank you Missy for doing that! I too went online and there is very little information at the US Consulate Copenhagen website, and on visa journey. Let's all keep each other in the loop!
