Wondering:

My lawyer told us we need to send in my (I'm the petitioner, US citizen) tax records with the the I-129F (pre-NOA2). But looking at the requirement list on visa journey where it says 'I-129F check list', it doesn't say taxes are required.

Did anyone else send in their tax records? I'm just wondering because it's hard to get a straight answer from my lawyer sometimes and it's beyond frustrating. I went to a lot of trouble to get him my tax records which ended up delaying the date we sent in our application.

.

Just curious is anyone else sent in their tax records BEFORE receiving NOA2

The attorney my cousin has is requiring my cousin & her fiance to gather every piece of information/document that will be needed for the entire process up front... even things that aren't required for the I-129F, but for the interview later. Could your attorney be doing that?

Although many documents are not required in the initial filing, some Embassies do not like 'additional' evidence that is not already in the file. To that end, especially from an attorney's point of view, it is best to 'front load' the application. Since the whole file will ultimately end up at the Embassy when you go for the interview. It is probably over kill, but maybe it is better safe than sorry.

I am not sure if that is your attorney's reasoning or not, but it is better to think like that rather than thinking he/she is incompetent. :)

Hey Richard. Did you decide on a destination for your cruise?

I never would have believed my journey to happiness would begin with something called an "I-129F"

03/19/09 - I-129F Sent

03/20/09 - NOA1 (rec'd harcopy 3/26/09)

03/24/09 - Check cleared

03/25/09 - Touched

8/12/09 - Touched (4 hours before NOA2 email)

8/12/09 - NOA2 email received

***Received email at noon (Weds)

***USCIS site did update with the status

***Was 113 on Berkeley list; 156 on VJ list

No, I have not decided but am leaning towards a Royal Caribbean cruise that leaves from San Juan. I have been on Royal Caribbean many time and like them much better than NCL. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe an Alaska cruise... but I think I need sun and fun :) And it is a much shorter flight from Atlanta too.

No suggestions on a destination, but for me, I'd go with one that isn't too structured. Something that has things available, but not filled up with schedules. Sometimes you feel like participating, sometimes you want to chill out alone (especially not having seen Joanna for a while). Keep us posted!

That is one of the things I find very attractive about a cruise... you DONT have to do anything. There are hundreds of things to do, but they are all optional. Joanna and I did a 10 day Mediterranean cruise as our first date. :) a 10 day first date!

The best thing I like is not having to think about what to eat or where to go... there is food EVERYWHERE and ALL the time... :) Also summer in the Caribbean is far less popular since it is so hot so there are not as many people on the Islands. I went once in the Winter and it was still nice, but literally several Islands had 13 ships in port! 13 ships with 2500 people each (or more) the small Island towns were so crowded that you couldn't move... In the Summer it may only be 2 or 3 ships in port and in some Islands we will be the only ship.

It is kind of strange... one might think that 3000 people on a ship there would be no space to be alone.. but strangely enough there are many things and places to be that it still feels very intimate. A stroll on deck after dinner for example one might see two or three other couples... it is very nice.

When we decide, I'll letcha all know,

Richard

He finally wrote back and said since they need it anyways he wanted to include it to be 'proactive'.

I am just all around feeling vulnerable and nervous about all of this, mainly because as much as we worked to make the packet 'perfect', it's ultimately completely out of our control.

Thanks for everyone's responses, I really appreciate it.

My best friend and I took all of our kids on a cruise at Christmas a few years ago - we went with Norwegian Cruise Lines out of New Orleans and did the "free-style" cruise. Our kids are all grown and we had a blast! To this day - every vacation we take, we always say we are freestylin!!

Melanne,

I think we can all agree that this process is long and arduous which ultimately takes its toll on our emotions. Having said that maybe this will reassure you. Recently I had the opportunity to go to the US Embassy in Warsaw (I went to help my SO get her tourist visa). While I was there and was allowed to go to the window to speak with a CO I asked about the K1 process and insight into it. The long and short of this conversation was this. We as USC have the right to petition and in fairness they really do want to issue us all the visas. That said, there is a process to go through, pure and simple. Assuming all things being equal, meaning we fill out the forms correctly, supply the needed information, have a 'real' relationship there is really nothing to worry about. Some Embassies are harder than others (mostly because of fraud) but the truth, as I believe, it is that the COs do want to actually issue the visas. So cross your T's and dot your I's get the information ready... and then relax it is just a waiting game. :) I know, easier said that done, but I have found this knowledge quite comforting. Personally, I have stopped worrying about the IF it happens and now just worry about WHEN. :)

Thanks for your response. That is comforting. I am not so worried about if we get it, our application is pretty simple and straight forward and organized, it is, as you said, a matter of worrying about the WHEN.

For now, I'm trying to use this waiting time as a chance to learn Danish- which is such a hard language! :)

Good luck with learning Danish!! I've been trying to learn it for 3 years and I am now fluent in "Danglish" which is a strange mixture of Danish and English.

Yes, I too, am trying to learn Polish... and frankly, my mouth and tongue just wont allow me to speak it. Who is their right mind would start words off with a SHHHHHH sound followed directly with a CHHHHHHH sound? sheesh :)

Well, VSC seems to have come to a SHHHSCHHHreeching halt this week. Not that they were fast the last couple of weeks. Maybe they're all studying Polish.
