so which site can we get the DS-156 AND the DS-156K? are those the only docs to send in for packet 3? we havent received the letter from the embassy though, ill prolly try calling them on monday as i looked up on DHL and they just received the package yesterday;

Sorry for all the unnecessary confusion.

First of all, the current versions of all visa forms can be obtained from the Department of State website at http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/forms/forms_1342.html

From there, you must follow the link to http://evisaforms.state.gov to fill out the DS-156. You must fill out the form on the web page—when you click Continue, the web application will generate a prefilled PDF version of the form including a unique bar code containing all the information on the form. You can then print and/or save the PDF generated by the web application.

The other forms (DS-156K and DS-230) can be downloaded and filled out on your own computer. The problem with the Department of State versions, as you discovered, is that they don't allow you to save the entries. I downloaded each of these forms and enabled saving. These forms—current versions, exactly the same as the DoS site except that saving is enabled—are available at the following URLs:

Different consulates have different requirements for Packet 3, so you'll need to check the individual consulate's website for the correct and up-to-date information that applies to you.

thanks again stephen and aisha.........on the ds156 that has to be filled out online, can you fill it out, print it, and send it to your SO, then they go online and refill another then print or can you only do it one time?? they make it so hard for the do-it-your self filers.........might have to have him risk coming here to america a week so we can do it together, he doesnt speak well enough english to trust that it will be done without errors

thanks again stephen and aisha.........on the ds156 that has to be filled out online, can you fill it out, print it, and send it to your SO, then they go online and refill another then print or can you only do it one time?? tehy make ot so hard for the do-it-your self filers.........might have to have him risk coming here to america a week so we can do it together, he doesnt speak well enough english to trust that it will be done without errors

You could fill it out for him, print 2 copies, and send them to him for his signature. It's formatted for US letter-size paper anyway, which might not be easy for him to get his hands on (they use A4 in Europe, which is close but slightly narrower and longer).

OR you can fill it out and print the web page (i.e., don't click "Continue," just use your browser's print function) and send that to him so he can use it to fill out the web form to generate the actual DS-156 with bar code.

will try thanks.......i dont know what to do,,,,people are saying if the NOA2 arrives before he comes here for a visit ,its a bigger risk of a turn back than if before we get it.....so in 2 days have to decide if will chance it before it gets approved......anyway, i miss him, would be nice to see him even just a week

so give me your opinion people,,,,if the NOA2 arrives without RFE, I received NOA1 march 26,,when do you think we will get approved?? 1 week? 2 weeks.3?

It shouldn't make any difference, and I certainly hope it doesn't! I've heard that the checks can take a long time if the US citizen petitioner has a security clearance, but I don't have one so it shouldn't affect me.
