hello. i just would like to ask for you opinion  in this simple matter. i have just mailed the form I-751{permanent res.card expires in june} and all the documents to USCIS. we did send a lot of documents showing our address...and stuff. in about 2 weeks we are gonna be signing a new lease for another year for the place we live in right now. unfortunatelly we were not able to get that new lease before i mailed all the papers to the USCIS. my question is do you think i can send that new lease to the uscis and they will somehow put it in with the other documents i mailed them. or is it just stupid and i should forget about it. i know it probably sounds stupid, but it would be one more paper showing our names and address. is it actually possible  to mail them more documents after you already mailed them all the papers, the form and the fee.

thank you very much.

Unless they send you RFE, I wouldn't rely on USCIS would be able to spend time dig up your file which they stored on some high shelf to collect dust just for putting that one piece of paper in it.

DON'T send in anything else now. It NEVER works to send in additional paperwork after you mail off an application. It is in big boxes or bins awaiting to be processed, they would not be able to match up paperwork that you send later. So as the others said, just sit and wait until they contact you.

thank you very much to all of you for your opinions. i was kind of thinking it was a really stupid idea :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: , i mean they are not gonna border looking for my papers in all those piles of papers they have. they would probably throw that new lease in the trash anyway.

well, you know that, you mail them all the documents and then you start going crazy :o and keep thinking what else you could have mailed them.at least that is my case. i think i am gonna take my husband's advice and just "relax" .

thanks everyone!

Hi Sunshine78,

In answer to your question, likewise, I'm in a similar situation too, as I found out I was pregnant after I had submitted my I-751 application. I didn't submit the proof of the pregnancy with my application, as I wasn't pregnant then when I originally submitted the I-751. However, if I am later on formally asked to submit addtional evidence for the I-751, through an RFE and/or through an interview or by any other means, I will definitely submit pregnancy and baby evidence when required and asked for by the USCIS.

There no need to submit information when not asked to after you have already applied for the I-751, I believe, as that confuses the already incompentent USCIS more when additional evidence is submitted but not specifically asked for while your case is pending. So hold onto your additional updated lease/housing evidence, and only submit it when required to do such afterwards.

Hope this helps. Good luck with the rest of your immigration journey too.

So no one has this crazy theory that has been knocking around my head that if we send more evidence someone at USCIS might find the file to add it to and then decide, "Ah, what the heck, I'll just process this one now"? After all, the NOA states that you can send evidence with a copy of the notice...

Just a theory, probably a bad one....

Hi A&O (and Everyone),

As much as I think that your theory makes sense, and is not a bad one....

However, I honestly don't think that the USCIS has the capacity to process that new evidence in a compentent way. Sure everyone can send in their extra evidence, but who is to say that they will lose it, misfile it, ignore it, throw it out, claim that they never received it, or heck, use it as scrap to heat their fireplaces with.

For example, what if one sends their new evidence, then they make a new file instead of combining it with the old one? Then they would end up with 2 files, which they would later have more trouble in 'merging' it together and could cause delays in processing. Then there's the issue of them transferring files. What if they transferred your old file to another service center (such as the recent VSC to CSC transfers), but they don't transfer your new evidence file with it?

Personally, I say just keep the additional evidence you have now, keep on gathering more evidence, and "surprise" them with the new evidence when they demand for more of it. And in this regard, you would be the more compentent one there in giving them more evidence when asked for it :innocent:

Lol...believe me, I have many more "surprises" in store for them later on too, and will be more than ready if/when they ask for such!...;)

Hi Ant&D and everyone,

so I went back to look at the NOA, it did said if you haven't already given them supporting documents (I know I already had, lots of them), you could make a copy of the NOA, put on top of whatever else you want to submit. Looks like they won't create a new file, but may lost in transferring sounds true. I'm gonna try, if by the time I finished my tax this year then got the transcript from IRS but VSC still haven't approve my case yet.

hey, you all. :P

it is so nice to read replies from you.when i was thinking about sending them this extra piece of paper {our new lease}, i even tried to call that 1 800...number they have, to ask if it is possible, but could not get through to speak to "any human being", all it was saying was press 9, press 5, press 6, press 1.....and i was getting a headache.:wacko:

anyway, i have decided not to do it  my husband thinks, if we start mailing more additional evidence {without them asking for it}, they might think we look too "active" and "suspicious" , well, that is his opinion :bonk: .

so i guess, i'll just wait and if they ask for more, i'll mail it.

anyway, i wish you all luck with your immigration stuff, and i will keep you posted with mine. it is nice to talk to someone about it and i like reading all your topics. :star:
