They wrote me back!!! ok, I was having THE WORST DAY EVER!!!!! I was in tears on the phone to my fiance... overwhelmed with car loan #######, US transfers, medical coverage, packing etc...AND THEN I SAW MY EMAIL!!!!!

I emailed them a couple of days ago and asked about the DS 160, how I made a mistake and did not complete properly and forgot to print confirmation page, they said to re do it... here is the good part... I asked them to confirm receipt of my packet 3, and said that we are planning a June wedding and requested a May 2009 interview date at the latest. They replied that my interview would be in May and they would note the system!!!!:dance::dance:

JULY09BRIDE, where are ya girl? it worked!!!!! So if anything, you will likely get a date same as mine or at least if you request or inquire, they may honour it!

I'm so excited!!!! It's nice finally knowing that I should be down there for June.... i'm still super nervous about the interview though!

:)

Congratulations. It is so nice to hear of things going well and working out. Don't worry too much about the interview - it is actually pretty anti-climatic:-).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

YAY!

I see your fiance is in Phili. I will be moving to Lancaster which isn't too far away.

PopRocks - THAT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! I'm SO happy for you!!! Okay, well, the phone call I made earlier today said that Duncan's P3 had not yet been logged... so, maybe if I wait until the end of the week or perhaps next Monday, I'll send an email and ask the same thing.

Okay. I'll request the same thing - May - b/c in June I have the last days of school and we're not supposed to miss those days, but if I have to, I will. OMG, I feel so much better! <sigh>

Let's see... we're 3 business days behind you... we sent the P3 on 3/2 and it was delivered on 3/3. Alright... today's Monday, so if I email on Thursday or Friday... I should hear back towards the beginning of next week....

PopRocks, you SOOOO made my day! I'm truly, truly happy for you!

BTW, I'm in Michigan, but from what I hear it's not too far of a drive from PA. I'm originally from Arizona, HE (my Canadian fiance) is the reason I'm in MI. :)

Let's keep in touch, for sure! I think it would be so amazing if we ended up with a similar or even day after interview date!

Congrats again,

Krista

Congrats again,

your only 1 bus day behind us. I sent it in Feb 27, overnight, but that was a Friday, so it was rec'd March 2. I emailed them just this past Friday at 2.30pm and they emailed me back today at 4pm. Not bad. The exact email said 'the appmnt should be for May, we will note our file' They made no mention of physically having rec'd my packet 3, but did ask me to refil the DS160, so I figure when I do that, I will resend an email and once again mention the packet 3 being sent.

I am sure they have WAAAAAY worse people than you and I who call everyday!!! lol!

And that's so cute that the power of love gravitated you all the way as close to the boarder as possible lol!

I'm gonna wait a week or so and follow up then :) And yeah, we can breath easier now :)

Well, after PopRocks good news yesterday, I decided to give it one more try today and called the State Department. I was sooo bummed yesterday, I couldn't believe it. But, wow, what a difference a day makes!

I called this afternoon, around 3:40ish, and the lovely lady at the State Department told me that Duncan's paperwork had been received AND logged yesterday afternoon!!!!!! She also kindly told me that I was more than welcome to call back each day this week to check on the status to see if there had been a change, meaning, to see if we'd been added to the interview waiting list or to see if we have been issued an actual date.

You all were right!!! I just needed to sit back and wait a little bit... things would work out. :star:

So, I did a happy dance as soon as I got off the phone with the kind lady and basically went running around my school (we had conferences this afternoon) trying to find people to tell them the good news! They all heard my sob story yesterday. LOL

Anyway, just wanted to share that I'm over my worry, and now that we're logged & in the system "for real"... I feel the wait will be much easier!

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Awww, i'm sooo happy for ya!!!!!:thumbs::dance:

My email reply from them indicated that they would note their system with my request, but the operator did not say 'yes we rec'd your packet' so I think i'll call tmrw....

She actually invited you to start calling everyday???? they don't mind? Heck they have no idea what i'm capable of with that type of invite!!! HAHA!

I think I'm going to send off an email to the Consulate regarding the date in May... what did you write in your email???

As for the phone call, yep! She sure did invite me to call everyday to check on the progress! LOL I could SO abuse that too... call in the morning (to see what happened by the close of business the previous day), call at noon (to see if anything was accomplished that morning), call in the afternoon (to see what happened since noon)... LOLOL

But, I promise, to be good. I won't abuse the privilege of calling each day. But, I have learned, that afternoon contacts are better than mornings. You got a good response in the afternoon on Monday and I got a good response on Tuesday afternoon. So... I'm hoping to put the email together by the end of the week and hope to have a response from MTL by sometime at the beginning of next week!

July09Bride,

This is what I wrote:

This is an inquiry to our case. We have recently returned Packet 3 (checklist) of our K1 Visa. I want to confirm receipt to your embassy of our package. Is your system showing as received?

We anticipate an interview date in late May. Can we put in a request for an interview date prior to June 1st 2009, as we have set wedding plans for June. I understand that there are no guarantees, but if you could note our account, we would appreciate it.

As well, when completing my DS 160 on-line, I printed the application but not the confirmation page. Is this ok, or should I re-submit a DS 160 on line?

Thank you in advance,

This was the response:

The appointment should be for May, we will note our file.

And yes, we do need the confirmation page, so it would be a good idea to re submit it.

Hope that helps :)

Am I calling 1(202)663-1225 (press# 1,0,4,3,0)? I got that from another thread. What do you give them, your case number and then just ask your question?

I have a feeling that we will get a date by the end of April... it looks like most people are hearing back at around the 8 week mark and then getting an actual interview 4 weeks after that...

My fiance is gonna try to make it up, but getting away from his practice is hard :( Hey maybe we'll get the same day!!! :)

Where does your fiance live, in Ontario? I live North of Toronto... the drive to Montreal is not bad, about 4.5-5 hours....

Better than most of my drives to see my hunny, usually 8 hours :( but it's sooooo worth it!!!! I will actually still be doing the drive once a month, after I move, so my son can see his dad....the crazy things we'll do for love!!!

Thanks for the info for the email! That's perfect! Simple and straight to the point. Hope you don't mind if I borrow your words, but change it up so it isn't identical.

As for the phone call... yes. You've got the right phone number! I generally don't make it past the first "0". So, I press 1 and then 0. From there, I wait for the next available Visa person. Both ladies have been nice (but, today's was nicer than yesterday's). ;)

Here's how the conversations have gone...

SD: "State Department Visas, how may I help you?" (or something like that)

ME: "I'm the petitioner for a K1 Visa being processed through the Montreal Consulate and I have a question regarding our case."

SD: "Do you have a case number?"

ME: "Yes, it is MTL **** *** ***."

SD: "Thank you." *pause* "What is the beneficiary's name?"

ME: "First Last."

SD: "Thank you." *pause* "Yes, blah blah, blah." <- Insert here where the nice lady tells you the latest staus of your case!

Pretty painless and quite short!

Good luck! Lemme know how it goes! As soon as I hear back via the email, I'll share, too!

He is in London, ON, so we're much closer than you & your guy... and I thought we were far away! lol On a bad border crossing day, it has taken me 4-5 hours and on a good day, I can make it door-to-door in just over 2.

For the interview, I've already talked to my principal about the days & she's totally good with it all. Because we're not so close, we're probably going to take ViaRail from London to MTL... there's a stopover in TO! So, for us, this looks at minimum a 3-day trip. One day to get there, one day for the interview, and one day to come back. We don't want to book the return trip for the same day b/c I'm a worry-wart (ya think??) and if something goes wrong, I'm gonna wanna go fix it asap to return the same day to the consulate.

Actually... make sure you apply for the AP (advance parole & it's been approved) otherwise you won't be able to come back after you've crossed!!! Don't want you to go through all of this and then head back & get "locked out"! That would be BAD!

Hope your call goes well!!!
