When I was 20 I had a thing with a 47 year old, so I am not completely adverse to the idea of an age gap up to around 30 years there for a man or a woman.

Tom dated someone 10 years younger than him once - he was around 30 and she was around 20 at the time.

I get the parent/child difference. A good friend of mine has a sister in her late 20s who married a guy in his early 50s. Their dad cannot get past this and refused to go to the wedding. He does not like the fact that a man his age is married (or even when they were dating) to his daughter.

I personally wouldn't like it if one of my sisters were dating a guy my dad's age - but that's me. People can do what they want.

I put 16-20 also because it could represent a generation of distinction between the parties. Frankly, I've always fancied men that are younger, younger by at least 6-9 years. And they've been quite happy with me, in fact, we've been well suited in many aspects. I'd have missed out on a wonderful person had I had some sort of stigma against someone 6-9 years younger.

I'm not sure how to respond to this. Before I met Benny I wouldn't have even considered a guy more than 10 years older than me. I quickly went to "age is just a number."

For a man is 16+,most people says "there's no age limit for love", others say that there should only be one or two years between lovers.

My husband is 6+ years older. What I find is that when they are closer in age there are similar drives, social exposure and interests that motivate the relationship. I prefer closer in age but is not one of my top 10 criteria for a mate...Personally, I can't seriously look at someone more than 10 years older than I am. And, when a guy is younger, it really depends on his maturity level..

HOWEVER my younger fiancé has experienced things no one his age should...which makes you either grow up fast or reverts you to stupid.

It is NOT as uncommon as you think, but society and most folks are closed minded. OMG what will the neighbors think, I can't go against what society says I should do or who I should love.

IF they are two consenting adults and they are not hurting YOU any..then what business is it of yours. IF they are happy then why assume they do not love each other??? Honestly its immature and closed minded to think people cant love someone who is older or younger without thinking there is something behind it.

My fiance is 6 years older than I. One of my girlfriends has a husband 12 years older than her & they are fantastic together. Personally, I couldn't give two hoots about age difference & I truly believe that if you're happy then go for it.

But for me, I still 'think' that a 20 year old with a 70 year old is a little weird. I just get bedroom images flashing through my mind.....

just because you have a HUGE age gap does not mean the marriage is a fraud..Fraud can happen to any aged person be it close in age or larger in age..AS i said before there are no guarantees

Its not as TABOO or wrong as you think...its been going on till the beginning of time and until the END of time.

I can name many older woman who are with younger men as well as older men with younger women WHO are working and have been together a long long time. IT is not as uncommon as we all think. Most keep it quiet because of societys closed minded folks; BUT since the demi moore and others stepping out of the age gap closet..OTHERS are stepping out as well.

Its sad that there are so many judgemental folks in this world. So so sad. I really feel sorry for them.
