I got a friend who is going through same process as i am, but unemployed and collecting benefits. As per the friend he is planning on showing his parrents assets for the I-864 document.

Since he is currently unemployed and collecting benefits, wouldn't this turn out to be an issue even if the parents are going help inorder to meet the income requirements?

Sponsor cannot use another person's assets on their I-864, ONLY the sponsor's assets can be used.

If in this case the sponsor is un-employed, the sponsor can use a Joint Sponsor the parents, the parents would fill out an I-864 too and if the parents need to use their assets, the parents would list assets on their (Joint-Sponsor) I-864. The Sponsor still provides an I-864.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

What if the sponsor(petitioner) wanted to use the intending immigrants assets and some of the petitioners assets to make up for no income would that be possible if you were over 3 times the 125% poverty line? For example if you had 55,000 dollars total in both yours and the spouses bank. And if your spouses bank account was overseas with the money in it, how could you use it? Would you have to provide a bank statement? Thanks for your help
