hey every1! i am so confused. My husband had his interview last month in Bombay, India. after his interview was over the person interviewing him told him that he needs original signuture on 864 papers. i do not know what happened to the original that i had send to nvc anyhow he did have a copy of it but it was not ORIGINAL. anyhow, i had send i-864 last week again a whole new original copy and just today he had submitted it but they are giving him problems. they not only took money from him again but gave him a receipt and said he needs bank statement (FROM JOINT SPONSOR AS WELL AS ALL THE OTHER DOCUMENTS) he has all the documents except the bank statement- thing is nvc never asked for that here and pplus everything was done so y is vfs trying to create problems? i dont understsand nothing. they told him to come on thursday due to holiday this week around 5. they might give him a list again or his passport.. should we worry about this or no? i dont understand how everything was done and y hes facing all this bc the officer who interviewed him simply said to take i-864 with him and submit it so now y are all these extra things needed? IM CONFUSED PLEASE HELP ME! thanks all for ur help.

also, just want to add in the list that we got from nvc and vfsm they had simply said they had received everything and just to bring things such as pics, passport and all that. there was no where indicated that i-864 was missing or wasnt original and all that.

Try to send the bank statement asap. You can scan the bank statement and your husband can take a printout.

Sometimes files do get misplaced or there are times when they want more proof of financial evidence. Even if NVC sends everything, its always is the consulate that makes the last call.

Hope things work out for your guys, best wishes (F)

I agree, have your bank issue a statement, and then scan it to your husband. Just give the consulate what they ask for, without delay.

Good Luck!!

that is just ridiculous. send bank statement, but why is VFS dictating anything? they do not have any authority. E-mail the Mumbai consulate and get the facts straight and show the e-mail copy to VFS once the issue is clarified. They cannot override what the consulate says. Has husband been given the new interview date? If not, e-mail Mumbai consulate and ask for one.

thanks all for answering. My husband had enough of it because the guy at the counter is confused himself. i dont understand how the interview officer said "TO TAKE ORIGINAL COPY OF I-864 TO VFS" and you will get ur visa. i hope we had the name of that officer. when he had an interview last month, he told them 2 please write a note so they wont trouble him but the officer said we do not have the authority to write a note... what does this mean? i mean its really stupid and they are making a big issue out of all this. i dont get it guyz.... but yes thanks for all ur response we both r so worried about it especially when im over here its so frustrating. yeah the scenerio is worse but they didnt give an interview date bc he already had 1 and i dont see a reason to do it over again. they told him to come on thursday hyst TO GIVE A PRINT OUT OF THE CHECKLIST. i think the guy is really confused and messed up in the brain bc we had all the required documents send to nvc and now the office in mumbai has it. i dont understsand why they cant look at that and y they still didnt give him our documents back. i was with him last month during his interview i just came back last week. im really confused guyz. hope u guyz dont have to deal with this #######! im really so mad and cant wait to thursday. o god!!!!!!!!!!!!

i will definately do what u had said . thanks alot!

are you sure you are telling us everything we need to know to give you an informed opinion? The Mumbai consulate is known to be one of the friendlier consulates out there, so it's unlikely that they would give you a hard time w/o any obvious outstanding issues. Please be forthcoming and let us know the full details of your case in this thread (i.e. w/o posting another one asking for help about the same thing). The less emotional you are, the more rational you will become. It's just the way brain is designed. :)

Hey how are u? thanks so much for ur reply but yes i am not hiding nothing. i did forget to add this that the other day when my husband went the other day, the confused guy told him that "ur case is different?" which also does not make sense bc i dont understand how our case was different. i am a us citizen and had a joint sponsor. like i said the day of his interview, i was in india with him and the lady who interviewed him said that as soon as u get the original copy of i-864, go to vfs to submit it and thats it. there was nothing more to it. when my husband said can u please write a note to nvc so they wont give him a problem, they said no we do not have the authority for that. like i said the guy at the window was really confused so maybe hes just screwing him up. thank you very much.

The guy at the window was really confused because they usually don't get much of CR-1 applicants. Most of the family based visas going through Mumbai consulates are F-1 visa, where the applicant not just submits i-864 but he/she also has to submit all the other documents such as bank statements, pay checks, employment letter and so on.

Since Mumbai consulate didn't give your husband any kind of note to what exactly he has to submit (which I find highly unusual because usually a consulate does note down about missing documents or any extra documents needed) so it is safe to assume that the guy at the Window wouldn't just take i-864 form, but he would want the whole Affidavit of support document.

The best you can do now is make sure you have all the other supporting documents as the AOS package when your husband goes next to VFS rather than just i-864 forms. It will serve you no good if you go only with the forms, you will have to submit the whole package again.......as per as my understanding goes. Someone else with better knowledge might add something or rectify me.

Best wishes.

hey trinket, thanks again for ur help. Yes my husband took the whole entire file that he took to his interview. the file included everything that we dealt with from day 1 to the day of the immigration. yes it also included the joint sponsor's 3 paycheck's, employment letter, proof of us citizen as well as i864 and i864a etc... i think u got the point... u no that may b the case then if they are not familiar with the cr-1 case. i been wondering if the guy thought he had to submit the whole packet at nvc like we do as a first step when they prepare us for the interview bc my husband also got a receipt and paid money. thats y hes telling my husband to come around 5-6pm to get a checklist but wats odd is how they still took his passport. lets see what happens on thursday. well thanks again.
