Has anyone been able to do a credit check on their spouse. I am wondering what the best way to do this is. Currently, my spouse only has a K1 visa and and I-94 (which expired last week). She does have a social security number from a few years back from a J-1 visa. Is this Social security number all I need? Thanks

 Well, I did a credit report check on myself- just to make sure my identity hasn't been stolen. I used my social security number, which I got in 2007 as a J-1 visa holder. However, there may not be any records if she doesn't have any accounts, credit cards, etc. But, the social security number is all you need.

Her social security number (and DOB etc) are all you really need - can request a free credit report from http://www.freecreditreport.com/ but I don't believe her credit 'score' is listed there.

Well, she got a doctors bill in 2006 for 200 dollars. She returned to russia when her J1 visa expired, and never paid it. Now, she is married in america, and we are trying to see if she has bad credit due to that bill. Alot of times, when I try to do a credit score on her, it asks for an address where she lived for 6 months, and also a credit card number. She doesnt have a credit card, and she has not been living here for 6 months. If I use the address where she is staying now, is that going to have any affect on getting her credit score?? Can I use my credit card to get the credit score. Thanks

If she hasn't been added to your credit cards, then they would still have the former address in the system- most likely. So, you may need to try using her address back in 2006. If you request a free credit report from the above mentioned site, I don't think you need to enter any credit card info- just name, ssn, address, dob.

Actually, I think the site we want to use is called AnnualCreditReport.com - the FTC says the other sites are not really free, but have hidden fees or require (paid) enrollment. See this press release.
