Yeah ... he is so excited now that he can't even come online that much..

By the way, I think I could track DHL.... That was Shipped on March 10th. Is that ours? Only a packet that weighs 1.1lb? weird...Do they have only one care in each parcel?

Sonia

Well according NVC opeator that I spoke with, she said they have not forwarded our file to consulate as of yet so I dont know what to make out of operator info vs DHL? I hope that is the package, but let wait n see. You might want to call n find out if they forwarded your file to dhaka embassy or not?

Okies...if u ever can track urs...please let us know..

Hey! I got the interview date!!!! APRIL 9!!

I'm so happy!! I called NVC but they were busy so I decided to check my e-mail before I tried to call again and there it was! The precious e-mail with the interview date!!!

Tomorrow I'm going to try to switch my K3 interview for the CR1. I have never heard of any brazilian here on VJ who did that, but since people from other countries did it, I'm going to try too!

OMG! I'm so happy to finally see the end of this coming!!! :energy:

Congrats! You might want to wait until your cr1 file reaches consulate before you ask them to switch your k3 into cr1 because most consulate cancels k3 in favor of cr1, but that's just my sugesstion. I am personally planning to wait untill my cr1 reache consulate.

Good luck!

The interview letter indicates that the case has been forwarded. I guess we start tracking :)

Yes, the interview letter says that the case has been forwarded to the consulate. What I did today was to e-mail the consulate asking what happens to the K-3 interview once they receive the CR1 documents (just to see if they have any specific policy such as canceling the K-3). I also asked if they can switch the visa type for the interview on the 24th if they receive the CR1 documents before the 24th. Well, I was going to wait a little, but they won't see this e-mail until tomorrow, I guess. Last time it took them 2 days to reply my e-mail. But they do reply.

How can we track the documents going to the consulate via DHL?

Anyway, I'll keep you all informed if they accepted to do the switch or not.

Cool. Here is how you can track package going to the consulate.

You can use the date after your interview was assigned, as the tracking reference date, and then do a search on DHL. The format to use is "EXP 07 OCT 2008A" don't forget the spaces...and to set the date range on the tracking page. The website for tracking is. http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef The package may not go out on the next day, but the reference code will still be for that date. When your package is able to be tracked, it will make more sense. You'll see a list of packages going to different embassies. You'll know which one is yours.

So we have filers from Thailand and Canada still waiting. Anyone from anywhere else?

Did you confirm with NVC operator to see if they forward your file to consulate?

ooops!! I didn't... I was guessing that they would only send me the appointment letter once they have sent the papers. I WAS WRONG! They probably set my interview date after March 10th papers had left NVC already. After you mentioned it I called them (5 minutes ago) and I found out that the papers were actually sent today. So that was not my package... :( At least I know it will be there tomorrow or friday because it usually takes only 1 or 2 days. So it is not that bad. If the consulate is willing to do the switch, it won't change anything because we're is still ahead of time.

Love the pic on your profile :) Yeah I don't know either...lets see what happens in the next few days. I would think for the early April interviews the cases need to get to Mumbai by mid next week, since people will need to submit their stuff at VFS. Will call NVC tomorrow, don't feel like being put on hold :)

To the person trying to switch a K-3 interview to the CR-1 interview there are many posts on VJ addressing this topic. The rule is that if an embassy has your completed case from the NVC they cannot interview you for a K-3. You do not need to contact them and some times doing so results in them cancellign your K-3 interview date, according to previous posts. So as long as your NVC case shows up to the embassy before your interview date, and it should, they must interview you for the CR-1. Hopefully the situation works out in your favor.

Mommy, I was really hoping you'd get an interview. I am still hoping for you. I am behind you in the process and so the sooner your are assigned an interview the sooner I am assigned an interview- have you spoken with NVC again?

To all - there have been lots of questions as to how interviews are assigned. I recently had this explained to me by the NVC. Each Embassy sets a quota, each month. So each month every embassy tells the NVC how many interviews they can assign and when the slots are open. The NVC then fills this quota. The start the process in the second week of each month. Some embassies quotas are filled within the first day of the second week. Either because they set the quota low, or there are tons of people waiting from many months prior... this seems to be similar to the situation in Bangkok. Other embassies have higher quotas, and or less applicants so sometimes there are still open spots into the third week of the month for that Embassy.

It would be interesting to know what the quota is for each embassy. What is more infuriating is that, at least in Bangkok, more preference is assigned to K-1 visa interviews... many more are done than the quota of IR-1's so we sit here and wait. Also Bangkok's quota for April is reduced because of Songkran.

Well I hope many people get thier interivews assigned that were hoping for them and Congratulations to all those who already got an interview date.

Take care,

Noi

K. Noi, thank you for the input. Yes I have called NVC and they said "Nope, not as yet"

I agree with you that USEM in Bangkok, assigned the interview to K-1 and K-3 most. But for CR-1/IR-1, from the timeline that I see the people who got their interview date already, it took them about 14-15 weeks to the interview date from the day that their case completed at NVC.

Example:

K. Johndecka, he got his case completed on Dec 24, 2008 and just got an interview date for April 10, 2009

K. Nahathai_Ike, he got his case completed on Jan 7, 2009 and just got an interview date for April 21, 2009

I will update with you once again when I know my interview date already.

Good luck ka.

Waithatter, the weird thing is that when I track with today's date (EXP 11 MAR 2009A), it only shows one package going to Juarez, Mexico, which is not my embassy. I was getting nervous!!! When I track using EXP 10 MAR 2009A, like you suggested, it shows a package going to Rio de Janeiro, which IS my embassy and they say it was picked up in NH today! I got in doubt because when I called the operator said they sent it today. So I thought I had to use today's date on the reference.

Well, as long as my papers arrive in Brazil this week... hehe!

Ah! Joe&Noi, thanks for sharing this info. I've seen posts about switching the visa type of the interview, but I haven't heard of people doing that in the Embassy in Rio de Janeiro. Maybe I screwed up, but in the e-mail I sent them today I was kind of "playing the fool" asking them what happens to the K-3 once they get the CR1 documents... Let's see their answer. If they decide not to switch, I'll have to wait 2 more weeks, but after waiting 1 year, I sure will survive. ;)

Our case was complete today! Thank God!

The operator said that we are now on an "interview waiting list," and they suggested we call back the "third week of April to see if the interview is scheduled," considering that they only schedule interviews "the second week of each month." I mentioned that this is the second week of March, (still two whole days left!) and could our interview be scheduled possibly this week? And she said "Oh, no, it's still on a waiting list. Call back next month." BLAH! :bonk:

So, what are the chances for our interview date @ New Delhi being assigned in the next two days? I know that many people have been scheduled outside of the "second week."

I'm still hopeful! :D

Thanks,

Catie
