you know what i find interesting, is that they say an estimated 250,000 to 500,000 die from the seasonal virus every year... why isn't that a big news story??:blink:

Precisely - the media in particular is blowing this out of proportion - consider how many deaths there have actually been and also how sick the folks who did have it are and how many have rcovered...geesh. It's a drop in the bucket in comparison

Plus if everyone had OCD like I do regarding germ prevention, it would be spreading less quickly! It disgusts me when I see people sneeze/cough in public without covering their mouths

I wish I had a job w/ annoying coworkers.

i have been in US for 4 days. I have nothing to do. My unpacking is almost done and all my daily chores are done quickly. i feel lost and when i talk to my family in Canada and ask me how I'm doing - im just fine, i dont really feel any excitement or sadness about moving here. Just blah. I think b/c i have been itching to do something - like a 9-5 thing and now i have all this time in the world and dont know what to do with it. I have lots of people telling me to hang out with them when ever I have nothing to do but i dont want to sit and just "hang". I guess I'm a little depressed about moving out of my comfort zone and a little lazy to do anything with anyone. My husband says I'm able to watch tv or watch movies all day now. but I want to be up and at it and doing something. I already know where everything is in town so not really much adventure there. AAHhh! this is a workaholics worst nightmare. I am not used to this. And I want to show my happiness to see my husband everyday but i just feel blah! Any advice from anyone?

Hi Borderdriver,

I just wanted to say that I sympathize with you and I understand how you feel. I've always worked. I even worked full-time while in college and in graduate school. When I had my first daughter, I stayed home for 6 weeks and I went crazy with boredom. I ran out of things to do so quickly.

Later, I moved to a new state with my ex (who is in the Army). I decided to try being a stay-at-home-mom for a semester only (I'm a school counselor). Well that semester turned into 2.5 years! I was able to keep busy by making a schedule every day and filling it with things to do. I woke up when he did every day to help him off to work. I went for an hour long walk every morning for exercise. I came home and did chores around the house, paid the bills, ran errands, etc. Eventually I made some friends and we would go walking together, meet up for play dates with our kids, and go to church during the week.

Nowadays I am a single mom of 2 kids, and I would LOVE some time to myself. If I was able to stay home, I would work on projects fixing up my house, READ (I love to read!!!), play computer games, go for walks, cook, SLEEP, etc.

My fiancee is going to have to quit his job when he moves in with me. He is not looking forward to being unemployed, but I've told him that this will probably be the only time in his life (besides retirement) that he will not work. It feels like an eternity ago that I was a stay-at-home-mom (It was about 5 years ago). The time flew by so fast, and I'll probably work straight through until I retire now.

Just try and enjoy the days, do fun things for your husband, try reading or doing something recreational.

If you do start reading, I recommend the Twilight series. I just finished all 4 books and I LOVED them!!!

OK, I cannot stand that pompous, self-rioteous a$$hole Ling Ling. He's whining and bitching about internet-speak..... on the FVCKING internet. I can't wait for his next post

It's a tough call, arrogance or narcissism

well then you have justashooter who encompasses both narcissism and arrogance and adds a bit of undeserved condescending attitude to boot.

Ohhh there must be something exciting going on in OT, *going to look*

Wow. Sounds like an entertaining thread!

I want to scream today at the NC Child Support office. They seem more hellbent on making it "fair" for deadbeats who knew they had to pay rather than the child. the whole system is soooo F@%#^@%!!!

that feels better, please continue the conversation ;)

This all reminds me of the TMN series Regenesis. I'm sure that David Standstrom (played by my fellow Bermudian/Canadian) will sort all this out in no time.

Thanks everyone for your support.

I talked to my hubby about it. I told him how I felt. Like arabella said, i will start keeping a list. I think that's a good idea. I looked up the volunteer jobs in town and its mostly helping old people and red cross type of stuff. I'm not good with health volunteer. But I'll keep looking. I started paying more attention with my fitness health. I think I have to leave the house before my husband wakes up. Once he wakes up, he wants to do spend time with me but doesnt want to go for a run w/ me. lol. Its just getting my #### to stop being lazy. I also told my hubby I want to make a table and fix this old dresser and re paint it. so I've created some new hobbies I want to do. and I've been wanting to get back into my old teenage size. haha. i used to dance for 15 years and stopped 3 yrs ago (b/c of work.lol). But I was on facebook last night and saw this ad for Jazzercise which looks exciting and I actually saw a banner of it in town so I really want to try that.

You guys are right about the time off too. I want to take advantage of it. I just need to learn to get used to having all this time to myself. lol.
