If I ever have another baby I'd do a home birth with a midwife.

I didn't like the whole hospital experience when I had my son. I did it drug free, but the nurse was such a b1tch about my decision to do it that way. I have no clue why.

Donne moi une poptart!

Majority of births go off without a hitch, BUT if something does go wrong, i would rather be at a hospital!! Can't do much at home.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Hey Flames - maybe you can shed light on why there seem to be some nasty nurses in the baby wing? I know they don't want you to be a scream queen - but man, it's like everyone has a story about at least 1 nurse who was really mean at this very sensitive time.

I'm in no way blaming nurses at large since there are many loving ones. I had 2 shift changes during my labour and the 1st and 3rd ladies were superb...middle one couldn't have given a sh*t and I wished she'd been assigned to anotehr area.

Does she have parents, Emancipation? Her family must think she has lost her marbles..... cause I certainly think that and I don't even know her!

I should mention that my previous statement has nothing whatsoever to do with her hiring a midwife..... it's in relation to everything she's done since she left home.

She has her mother left (her father committed suicide a couple of years back). Her mother has basically disowned her. In Japanese culture, it is my friends role to marry well and her husband to take care of the family's business (they are land owners). She refused to do that and moved to Canada, so her mother (and her grandparents) resent her (in their opinion) selfishness. Her younger *and only* sister resents her too cause now she has to marry well and run the farm. :bonk:

i see the value of a midwife, and I think I'd use them to supplement the system. perhaps if my 1st delivery went well I'd consider a home birth, but I'm with flames. i'd want to be where the drugs are :) tee hee.. but I won't probably have a child so my surmising is totally useless!

In every wing there must be some. I have a couple of horrible stories, but I can't even tell them, because they are so traumatic for me. I think there are just mean people everywhere and god forbid they get what they perceive to be a bit of 'power'.

Anyway, I actually came here to vent about floors. The last few weeks, on the tile floors in this house, I have noticed some darker areas in higher traffic locations. So i'm thinking geez it almost looks like wax buildup??

Ok, a scrubbing and a SCRAPER later, that is exactly what it is - these people waxed a ceramic floor. bah.

Probably because she didn't want to hear you screaming. LOL

Ugh. I have the same problem. Terrible tiles on the floors. Couldn't get them clean no matter what I tried. Finally found some Lestoil in Ace hardware and that's working.... with much added elbow grease, mind you. icon2.gif But I think it's the sealant they use.... not a wax.

It was a really rough time. I think it was a struggle his whole life, and my friend suffers from severe depression (another reason I cautioned her about her choices). Huge changes, lack of support system, alienation from her family who knows her best (and her illness).. yeah.. sounds like a good idea for someone with this family history.

Now (if I were to have another baby...which I will not) I know that Don would be more then happy to be at the finish line -cripes he'd be coaching, making cocktails, massaging, walking, snapping pictures and getting the pompoms out!!!!!!!

Hey you didn't say anything about pom poms. I might have been open to the suggestion if I'd have known that. ;)

*groan*

Well, it was really less toil if you compare it to the toil of all my other, unsuccessful, efforts.

So this sealant, once you scrape it off...it's gone or does it riseeee again

So far it has stayed gone. lol

Actually, Udella's got a good point here, Emancipation. If the husband can mix some cocktails she'll be fine without her meds. lol
