A size 12 also isn't plus sized. I'm a 12 and sometimes even a 14 but I've never had to shop in the plus size department. I'm on the taller side for a woman I guess, even though I'm only 5'7". I definitely could be a lot thinner than I am, this is true...but if she's a 12 she's not plus sized. (in my opinion..I certainly don't feel that way)

Regardless, I'd be calling corporate or writing a letter. Disgusting customer service.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

omg, if someone said that to me, I would feel SO HORRIBLE!!! I AM a size 16, sooo yeah.. I can't imagine what I "look" like. There are tons of stores that I can not shop in, and just hate shopping in general anyways.

Unfortunately, my sister in law is a size 2..... so shopping is NOT something we bond over AT ALL... because I want to punch her...

lol

Aww Jill that's too bad. I have been there and done that. Some people will say whatever they're thinking and aren't very tactful. I think for me, the worst is when they're sneering at me down their nose like "nothing in here will fit you honey!" Those are the kind of stores I don't even like to go in. Some people are so rude! As a side note, I had a thyroid condition for awhile, and I heard of a natural supplement called Armour. Docs down here in the US are using it to raise thyroid levels instead of traditional meds cause it works better. I'm not sure if it's available in Canada, but if I still had a thyroid problem it's definitely something I would try because of all the good results I've heard.

Yes I guess her Momma never taught her "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it" LOL!! Thanks for the info about Armour, as nothing has worked for her thus far. Will inform her about this!

I think because sometimes at Winners and stores like that she finds clothes in the "plus size" section but they have so many different sizes in the "plus size" section it's hard to put yourself in a category like that.

Good idea about writing a letter to corporate!

And why should you! the whole plus sized thing is so stupid - if you are a size 24 you know you are a size 24 - why do they have to label.

Ugh.

Stupid woman saying anything to your Sister!! I feel bad for her.

I loved the new house. Until I saw this tonight. He was 5 inches long. And my lame husband waited to feed the pets before killing him and now he's wandering through the house.

A cane spider. :dead:

Niiiiice.

We don't get that many spiders. But do get a lot of bugs. I find these things inside a lot during the winter. (sneaking in where it's warm). I've lost count of how many times I've opened the bathroom closet only to find one scooting around in there. Wound up taking everything out and bleaching everything. Roach poop looks like small chocolate sprinkles. At least it's not gooey.

They fly from time to time as well. They're around more often during the summer (hot, humid). But at least they tend to stay outside during the summer. Nothing like turning on the bathroom light in the middle of the night and seeing one of these run and hide somewhere.

Never moving to anywhere near either of you two!

And T-mix..I totally agree with you as far as why the plus size label is necessary. Now they have stores in the mall that just carry plus size clothes and I wonder to myself, why can't regular stores just carry clothes that fit all women?

There are certain stores I can't shop in at all, this is true. I don't understand why certain places only make clothes to fit a size 2-8. But I guess that's just the way it is.

They grow bugs here that are huge.

Gross spider MrsCat!

There was one hanging off the house the other night - I said afterwards I should have taken a picture but I was too busy going oh oh oh a big spider!!

The perimeter of this house is sprayed every 3 months, along with the yard and I think that helps a great deal.

OMG what a psycho-biyatch that woman was!

Clothing sizes and such are one of my big pet peeves because it is all so stupid. Size 12 is not only NOT a "plus size," it's AVERAGE. But there are plenty of stores that only carry sizes up to 10 even so. Height wise it is even dumber. I know plenty of women anywhere from 4 foot 10 up to 6 foot 3, and yet clothing designers seem to think three lengths will fit us all. That isn't even mentioning the skew towards taller women. Average height is 5 foot 4, yet at 5 foot 1, I have a hard time finding petites that fit properly. One of my best friends is 6 feet tall and she is too tall for the "average" sizes (meant to fit women who are actually four inches or so taller than actual average) but too short for the tall sizes (at freaking 6 feet tall, FFS!!!).

But even if your sister WAS a "plus size," the woman had no right to make such a nasty snide comment. That is just outrageous and I hope she does complain!

I remember when I worked at a factory in Canada my MALE boss came into the LADIES ROOM and went to stall I was in and started pushing a steel rod through the cracks of the stall asking me if I could weld it to another part.

I was like: "DUDE WHAT THE EFF!?"

I've known some women to use the men's bathroom before.

i burn really easy.. :P

one time we went to the beach and I used this sunblock that looked kind like chapstick and you kind of rub it on and I thought I had spread it evenly over my legs but by the time I left the beach I had zebra stripes on my legs ...lol

I once got a sunburn during CapitalEx (I think it used to be called Klondike Days) while in Edmonton. I found that odd since I've lived in Houston my entire life and never once got a sunburn.

That's terrible Jill!

Isn't it!? And my sister has always struggled with her weight, she has a thyroid condition which makes it difficult for her to lose. She is a very healthy eater and exercises alot, so she's always been sensitive about her weight as it's a health condition.

Sounds like hypothyroidism. I've got that too. I'm on 1.25mg of Synthroid.

A size 12 also isn't plus sized. I'm a 12 and sometimes even a 14 but I've never had to shop in the plus size department. I'm on the taller side for a woman I guess, even though I'm only 5'7". My wife was complaining about her size earlier this week. I really don't see why she thinks she's fat. On a bad day, she's maybe a size 8. She said her problem is there are no size standards and it's hard to find clothing that fits well and looks nice.

I loved the new house. Until I saw this tonight. He was 5 inches long. And my lame husband waited to feed the pets before killing him and now he's wandering through the house.

Hmm... looks like a Brown Recluse to me, but it's far too large at five inches. :P

Tree roaches. Lovely. They like oak trees a lot, but yeah... Texas has some big roaches.
