On a lighter note, can we talk about the fact that I am stressing over the fact that my AP situation will likely not allow me to visit my hairdresser and get my hair highlighted for the entire summer? HAHA!

My fiance will have to walk around with a new bride and her major roots! I hate having to source out a new hairdresser, like seriously, how do you know they are not good, until they have ##### up your hair!!!!! I already tried a few places in PA close to where we will be living, and lets just say that a year later, i'm still trying to grow out the mess!!!!

Can you tell where my priorities are? lol!

You need to choose your hairdresser like you'd choose a babysitter. Seriously walk in and talk to them and get to know your stylist.

Moving to Philly, my friend is a stylist in the city at a top notch salon, I'll ask her for some names for you. It's all about finding someone you're comfortable with and shopping around. :)

Hey Nevada do they do waxing at your friend's salon? I've yet to find a good wax place that's not too expensive either. In Oakville it was 40 bucks for the type of wax named after a south american country

 I will ask her.

I was about to ask what type of waxing you needed because if it was brow I was going to suggest threading. But then I noticed the country part. :P

Oh my gawd! I have been tempted to do that kind of waxing but I am so afraid of the pain!

 Yeah the first time KILLS like a mofo but really after that you get used to it, it's so fast you barely feel a thing. Plus it lasts like 6 weeks so I like it mucho!!

Actually I have heard nothing but great things about this place:

http://www.mokobeauty.com/

Seems they do the country waxing too for 40+

Oh woot thanks! I'll check it out!

Do you like scream out loud? I am so afraid I'll cry or yelp.

It would be one of these situations..

"NO WAIT.... k... I'm ready... NO NO WAIT! k.... k do it now... NO NO! DON'T! WAIT!..."

I'd probably end up chickening out and walking out with the wax still stuck on, that's how pathetic I'd be!

LOL No but I'll admit I flinch every time.... and tears come to my eyes! It sounds like torture, I don't really know why I do it to myself

I have had soooooo many Tim Hortons, yet have yet to win a *&*&*( thing!!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Do you know what annoys me??

People who CALL to ask if we're hiring. If you can't get off your lazy a$$ to come in and speak with someone then you aren't able to get up in the morning and come to work.

I just asked someone what was stopping them from coming in and filling out an application and she said: "Well I don't want to come all the way there if you're not hiring"

It's called EFFORT, employers like to see it. No, we're not hiring. Bye. Seriously.

I hear ya, even worse is the ones that come in all in tatters, and just kind of fling their resume at you then leave..no chance to ask them a question. Their resume's go right in the garbage.

My vent for the day. I had that terrible cold before...apparently my sinus' haven't cleared, and now I have fluid behind my ear which is making me very dizzy. Had to call out for the second day today because I have been walking into walls and such. I hate being sick! Hopefully the stuff they gave me helps get my sinus' better soon, I'm going to have to go back into work tomorrow regardless of how I am feeling.

I just notice it seems to be the norm with so many people... whatever happened to getting dressed up and going out and actually applying?

I have noticed people just come in with their street clothes too and ask for an application. This tells me a lot about that person.

It also bothers me when someone wants an application and then asks for a pen. You are going out and applying for a job... BRING A PEN!

First impressions matter, especially when looking for a job.

I have put X's on so many applications because of the way people look when they come in or if they ask for a pen.

awww I kind of feel sorry for them.

I assume since they are coming in and filling out an application, that they are young and are not applying for a job in the corporate office.

I can understand why they would call first, jobs are scarce right now and since we can assume they are probably unemployed, money is probably tight - bus fares etc cost money and because jobs are so tight they probably can't afford to go to every place they might want to apply.

The pen thing, the street clothes, those are things they will learn as they go along - I hope you say something to them when they are there
