If I went purely by her maturity level, I'd say she's far from ready to get married. Hell, she sounds like she'd belong in elementary school.

Too true.

Teachers are paid absolute ####### wages and it takes a few years to get tenure---not sure if her 5 years were all in one district, but if not, she doesn't have tenure and therefore no job security. So living with parents rather than roommates I can understand. A friend of mine is a teacher---and because he is a music teacher (ie, first to get axed when schools cut budgets), he has yet to stay in any one job long enough to get tenure. He had to move back in with his parents for a while in his late 30s. This is his 2nd year in the same district, so we are just hoping he gets a third year and finally has some job security. It pisses me off, too, because he is really super bright and really good with the kids, just the kind of people we WANT teaching our kids. It is frustrating. Oh well, that is another rant, I s'pose.

Teachers in New Jersey are VERY well paid. Starting salaries in most of the counties here are between 40-50K. I just researched this, this morning.

Also, tenure is given after 3 years because it is controlled by the state here in New Jersey, not by the district. So, no matter where you go it carries over. Imagine if you worked your job for three years and then were basically cemented in for life?

She's severely in debt even though she's lived at home and had her schooling paid for. She just can't seem to get on her own two feet and would rather go on expensive vacations and do lots of stuff then to cut her cord.

Good for her I guess.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Well the principal sees nothing wrong with Ethan's writings either and is going to talk to his teacher. Ahh she must think I am crazy because she said she'd call me back and I told the secretary: "No I insist on waiting until she's free" and literally 2 minutes later I was able to speak with her.

She doesn't want this to go any further than it has in the past and said it would be dealt with in a timely manner and she apologized on behalf of the teacher.

I actually feel as if a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I am relieved.

I'm so happy at this response! For once, a superior is taking responsibility for their employee!

For all of those with ADD/ADHD out there, I present this magazine:

addmagazine.jpg

Damn, I wish that really existed. I'd subscribe -- for the flying tanks, if no other reason!

I never tried one of these, was always worried I would get MORE calls after giving them our phone number.

Any one use this and not get phone calls anymore?

Ohmygoodness, this cut down on the calls DRASTICALLY! It was absolute craziness before I registered. Now my phone is silent unless it's a valid call. Sheer bliss. :luv:

Nevada, did you have anymore communication with the school? Did Ethan report any unusual activities?

Oh! I see you responded while I was posting, Nevada! That is awesome. My faith in the U.S. educational system has been restored.

Okay, well maybe somewhat. :hehe:

OK, I've conceded that Smarties are in fact chocolate, that Strange Brew is not a documentary, and have even begun to acknowledge when Mel asks me to get her some pop when i'm at the fridge. I am holding firm though at two words. Pasta and Mazda :P

Have you noticed that the commercials in Canada and the U.S. for Mazda, they pronounce the name differently too? I can understand that Mazda is a regional pronunciation thing, but not with pasta. It is pasta (p - ahhhhh- sta) :P
