AWwwww. Wyatt...

Well, at least you got some time with your wife, right? AND, soon enough, this whole process'll be over and I wouldn't feel bad about moving in with the 'rents a for a few months -- god knows if I had that chance, I would do it in a heartbeat and I am a lot older than you! Seriously... to be able to save that much money for a few months? I consider you lucky if anything else...

Good luck my friend...

Soon enough, we'll all laugh about this...

:)

LGG

I hate that I have to come back "home" tomorrow. :(

This has been a wonderful ten days with my wife here in D.C.

I know I should be glad that I was in a position to HAVE ten days with my wife...but having to leave her here until I can immigrate is very tough nonetheless.

It also sucks knowing that I'm going home to pack up my apartment over the next two weeks and move (albeit temporarily) back in with my parents. It's very tough when you're thirty and very accustomed to your independence...even if it IS very temporary! Grr.

Another 3 day weekend for me over :(

I always feel so detached when I come back to work on monday after a 3 day weekend. I don't tend to read the newspaper or watch any news over the weekend so I am out of the loop. It's nice in a way to be able to set all that aside.

Wyatt...

I had to look at what question 25 even was... what was the issue with it? Need a hand or anything?

It looks like it'll probably be easy to fix, right? Fill it in again and such?

Good luck Looking forward to hearing about your case complete!

Okay. Thanks in part to a helpful NVC agent, and in HUGE part to a few frantic PMs back and forth with Redmen99, it looks like the mistake was a very simple one. My wife put in her adjusted gross income on line 25, thinking that's what they wanted. In actuality, they only want adjusted gross income for 1040EZ forms...and NOT for standard 1040s. So she changed the adjusted amounts to gross amounts and I just resent them to NVC.

The wording for that question could be a bit better...but so it goes. Here's hoping they can fix this RFE asap!

The one GOOD thing to come out of this is that the NVC agent was indeed very helpful, and assured me that this was the ONLY mistake with our documentation. So presumably, once this gets dealt with, we'll be case complete.

I'm glad this was caught TODAY, as my wife can bring me the hard copy of the amended I-864 home from work with her in an hour or so.

I should also add that this is a great example of why one should call NVC's AVR every day. If I'd called on Thursday evening, we would have been able to have all of this sent off on Friday. The RFE was dated November 5th, but I only learned about it because I decided (on a lark) to call NVC's AVR.

I kind of made the same mistake on mine. I used the adj gross income from the 1040 - which was zero (because by the time you get to adj gross income on the 1040 you have excluded all your foreign income). They sent it back as wrong and said it must match the gross income on the tax transcript (ie: total earnings).

I suppose it is a common 'mistake' (if you can call it a mistake when you are working with such bad instructions  )

Never thought of it being 'gross income' as it applies to the EZ rather than the regular 1040 - so that's good info to know.

OH man, when we were going through all that stuff, I called NVC every single day, sometimes twice just so see if there was an update that required my immediate attention.

I sort of miss that, actually.

Get into work. Sit down with coffee, wait on hold with NVC while checking work email. Now? I got nothin'. I actually hate calling NVC these days as it's the same old b.s...

Rocking, Wyatt... you guys'll be done soon...

Boy, I hope so LGG!

I mean, waiting for Case Complete is like waiting to wait...but at least it's waiting for the last leg of waiting. Wait...what? :P

But yeah. I know that waiting for an interview will be the toughest part, in a sense, but at least you know definitively that it IS the last administrative step. Then there's just the medical and booking the ticket to Montreal...

While I do think that some of the the criticism of Montreal perhaps goes over the line a bit - I don't think that kissing butt, for lack of a better term, is going to make one iota of difference.

I do not doubt that these people work hard, I have never thought any differently, as I mentioned, I spent many hours at the Calgary consulate documenting my citizenship and I know they are busy.

All that aside, while it may not be their fault directly (as they are the employees) - other consulates do manage to crank out many thousands of visas per year and in a timely fashion. Why Canadians are not given this same respect, I do not know. What I do know is that if no one speaks up about it, it will not change. We complain and continue to complain about there only being 1 consulate in Canada that processes IR1 visas - what is the response? We end up with only 4 panel physicians for the ENTIRE country.

- 4 panel physicians for the whole country

- Having to travel to Montreal for the immediate relative visa

- Many months of wait time between completion at NVC and interview

Does this sound like an organization that has respect for Canadians? I don't think it does.

But again, these people work for an organization that has put this in place, I doubt seriously that anyone ever asked them their opinion about only having one consulate process these visas.

That said, we have all worked for poorly run companies and when you pick up that phone in the office to speak with a customer, they are not concerned with the fact that it is the chief that made these decisions - you are the representative for the company. While this is not really fair, I do think it is realistic to expect that you are going to get some backlash from a poorly run organization.

Once again Trailmix, you have hit the nail on the head... why am I going to kiss the butt of some employee who happens to only be the face if ineptitude? I'll sit there conduct my interview and move on. They have the right to deny me and that, I will not toy with. They are the face of a system that is poorly run and has let us down in terms of a lot of things. So... we're to sit back and take it? but, we can't take it out on the poor person, singular, that's manning the booth that day as... they are only the face of a poorly run system/company.

I agree...

I also NEVER hope to offend anyone here by my comments and such. NOt my intent. FYI...

Does anyone buy the "please listen to all the options as our menu has recently changed" thing anymore? Have companies not figured out that we realize that they haven't changed anything - or does every single company change their options every week
