Oh I can definitely relate Sam and Bren!

I am very grateful to my friend / boss for giving a job 2 years ago, as it was getting desperate for my husband and I...but now I'm regretting it, big time.

I need to find something else, or either a) I'm going to insane b ) Money is going to run out (being made even MORE part time than before...at 8hours a week) or c) I'm going to go insane

He is a horrible manager, and terrible at his own job.

I'm still waiting for an expense check from the end of Sept!

wow...I like this vent thread :D

That sounds like a bad boss, not really anything to do with a small business. But I do see that with a small company, you don't really have anywhere to hide when your boss' goes off on a tantrum. You should sign him up for a bunch of porn newsgroups. That ought to calm him down

Hell, don't have to bother with that. Somehow our main company email receives a ton of those - I know, as I'm the one who filters the damn thing.

And you're right. That specifically isn't a small-business issue. It's all of the other money issues/stresses on top of the daily issues like I mentioned that make me wish to steer clear.

I don't like working for "Family Business'". I've just had horrible experiences with them. Like the boss' wife draws an 80k salary while only being a part time employee.

I think you hit it right on the head, there.

Yeah, exactly. I can only do eight million things at one time while part-time and making part-time wages.

I should say, I shouldn't have overtime stress for part-time work, heh.

I'm still waiting for... a lot of things.

Sounds like we're both in a very similar situation. I hope you find a way out of yours.

Me too!

Been applying like crazy to jobs, but haven't had much success.

At this point I'd love a full time job. Even if it were for half of what I'm making an hour now, I'd be making the same amount at the current job working only 24 hours/week!

BUT at least it would be a full time job with probably extras like benefits or a 401(k) which I don't get now.

In this specific case, she had aspiriations of grandeur. She figured that if her husband appointed her the position of CFO/Controller that she would be able to get a job as a CFO or controller at a bigger company. The problem is, the woman knew absolutely nothing about accounting and really only came in after lunch to sign checks. She thought of Controller and CFO as purely decision making jobs and that a working knowledge of accounting principles was superfluous. The comedy was 2 years later when I got a call from a company asking me about her performance as a CFO/Controller. She applied to several companies and put me down as a reference. Yeah, needless to say, she didn't get those jobs, I made sure to follow up on those reference calls.

Ugh. I guess this is the year of things breaking. My monitor died a couple of days ago. It's only 4 years old!!!!!

Anyway, that's why I haven't been online. I'm at the library right now, so can't be on here too long. We only get an hour and I've got to research new monitors. :bonk:

I've been so down lately :( physically I mean, not emotionally. I was sick for about a week a few weeks back, a bad cold that had me staying in bed for days. It left me feeling drained and tired, even now. Then on Monday I pulled a muscle in my back lifting a heavy table which I totally shouldn't have. Now I'm in bad pain in my upper back, neck and right shoulder. I have been taking motrin galore and found these great heating pads that stick on your skin, but I hope it gets better soon. I'm 29 going on 79. Oh and the flu hysteria isn't helping my germaphobe problems, which were bad enough before this flu hysteria got bad. My hands are cracked and bleeding from using so much purell :( Someone at work sneezed into the air yesterday without covering their mouths, so close to me I felt the spray. I literally had a near panic attack, couldn't breath freaking out about the germs. People are disgusting. I've been trying desperately to get a flu shot, either one or both but cannot find them anywhere.

Oh yuck, Jill. Sorry you're not feeling well. I totally recommend chiropractic. It saves my bacon every time. Except for the time I went to the chiropractor who was #######. You have to make sure you find one that works for you.

I totally would like to take a road trip to the NE! I was on the phone with my BIL a couple of hours ago and he said to wait until he got here in one month (from England) and he would go monitor shopping with me. (Because he's a computer nerd too.) I told him thanks but I'd like to be back online sooner than that. lol

I really miss the days when all I had to do was order a new monitor/machine through work. For free. One of the perks of the job that I no longer have. :(
