I hate it when people tell me i have too high a standard of cleanliness and neatness.

The next two words that come to mind are: (please insert expletive here).

Thats awful. I couldn't leave a mess behind anywhere! Even in a hotel I strip the beds and clean up before I leave. Its embarrassing to leave your mess for someone else to clean up not to mention disrespectful.

It's not just that. I mean there is makeup on everything. And I mean everything. The walls, the doors, the linens, the duvet, the decorative pillow shams and cover.... underneath the decorative pillow shams and cover...... EVERYTHING!!!!! It's like I had freaking Tammy Faye Baker in there rolling around trying to leave her mark on everything I own. #######?!!!!!!!

I don't want anyone to strip the beds when they've stayed over. I don't want them to see the strains and holes they've been sleeping on.

I used to be one of those people (especially in Las Vegas) that the housekeeping staff would probably have thought some rock band stayed in our room the night before. Key word is "used to be" though. :innocent:

I'm finding out quickly that my soon to be wife has much higher standards than I do when it comes to cleaning. I guess i'm just getting out of bachelor mode now.

I do draw the line at taking fixtures off the walls in the bathroom to use lysol on them......

A couple of years ago my husband's brother and his friend came with us to Lollapalooza in Chicago. We all shared a room and lets just say that the two extra people were SLOBS. Like it looked like one of the bands had been there in that room, there was booze bottles EVERYWHERE! And then when we were getting ready to leave and check out, his friend decided it would be a good idea to push all of the bottles off of the table on to the floor. I was sooo pissed. They called me a prude and walked out and I requested a late check out so I could clean up the room without them being there. It was disgusting. We had told them no smoking pot in the room, because I hate the ####### and so does my husband, but the room reeked of it. We learned our lesson that year.

I think you'd win and Jill would too. I myself am a neat freak but my husband and son are not. So its hard to keep up with two boys.

I get my son to clean his room every weekend and then on Mondays, I go in and tidy it up more.

Well, if the room was booked under my credit card, I would have done the same (although probably not nearly as good a job at cleaning I imagine :P)

But if it was booked under their credit cards.... ** em, let them get charged. There is a difference between not cleaning up and being a fvcking #######. I would leave empty bottles on the table, leave the bed unkept, but I wouldn't go out of my way to destroy the room. I had some friends who did that in Vegas a long time ago. Had the whole "lets party like rock stars" weekend. Cost them nearly $1500 on their credit cards after the fact.

Yea see, we were stupid, we pretty much paid their way that year.

Plus, it was at a hotel that I was affiliated with, I was living in Canada at the time and working at the same hotel chain, and it was on my employee discount. It was just really disrespectful of them.

Well, I understand now why you did it. Let me ask this though. If it was them who had paid for the room and you were their guests, and it was a completely unaffiliated hotel to you personally or professionally and they did the same thing. Would you have still bothered?

I think I would have insisted we clean up the bottles yes. I mean the room was messy and I was going to leave it at that, but the guy pushed everything off the table and thought it was really funny.

I left a note behind saying to vacuum well because glass had been broken in the room. I mean I am just thinking if a child was running around barefoot, or something.

If I was 19, and I had no care in the world... I probably would have gone all rockstar on the room too and laugh off what the guy had done or even join in.

But I am a mom, so I think differently than I would have back then.
